I think he's going on loan to my team, West Ham.

I never knew that you shared the joys/pain of supporting them, Fr McG.

I guess Carroll will fit with Fat Sam's preferred style of hoofing the ball to the Big Bloke up front. Though I'd prefer something different. Berbatov would've been a more fun acquisition, if only to annoy Spurs. Though it would never happen under the current management.

Scunthorpe manager Alan Knill suffers squirrel accident

There's the sort of headline you don't see very often. The report doesn't say what happened to the squirrel.

To be honest, it's only a casual interest that stems from my time living in the UK. A guy i worked with was from East Ham and i just keep up with their results out of habit, not any real passion.

That's probably a wise choice. It lessens the existential angst which is the normal state of most fans.

Justice at last. Congratulations to the Hillsborough Family Support Group. Thatcher's South Yorkshire private army of strike busters have been finally shown to have fabricated the whole pissed up scousers myth to protect their own sorry arses. No sign of Kelvin Mackenzie giving interviews today?

Anyone who ever attended a big game at Hillsborough in the 70's or 80's knew it was a disaster waiting to happen.

Normal Liverpool hating services will be resumed tomorrow.

...............hopefully minus the "You kill your own" chants.

This cover-up was clearly sanctioned at Downing Street itself. It's hard to believe Kelvin McKenzies' Sun could have had the balls to do that "The Truth" cover [which has seen the newspaper boycotted in Liverpool for 23 years] without a large nod and wink from Thatcher's own office. Today's official acknowledgement of falsified police reports, missing CCTV videos, arbitrary cut-off times of death and other self-serving mendacity from officials who have denied the families any possibility of closure for almost a quarter century is a victory not for justice but for the persistence and tenacity of the families of the Hillsborough dead. We read only last week that Hillsborough-related deaths have continued over the years, with at least half a dozen suicides considered to be directly linked. The only travesty today was that the official government apology came from David Cameron, not from Thatcher herself. I suppose she's too batshit crazy these days to be trusted with such a task.

Thatcher's response to the Taylor report in 1989, as she decided that her government should not give the report its full backing: "...The broad thrust is devastating criticism of the police. Is that for us to welcome? ..."

Wonder where that hilarious cuddly man-of-the-people Boris Johnson is today? He's unusually quiet:

Someone once said that ''sorry seems to be the hardest word'', coming from politicians and parts of the gutter press it might sound hollow and insincere, but hey! at long last the families of the 96 can get justice and for the first time in 23 years, maybe some peace of mind.

Of course, those chants are disgraceful; we ought to be able to take the piss out of each other without being vile.

Piss taking and banter has always been part and parcel of the football fans way of life, but as always there is a line no one should ever cross. Here in Holland, some of the most vilest chanting and singing has prevailed for years,i didn't think it could be any worse elsewhere, but sadly in Hungary,Italy,Poland and even in England,i have heard far worse.Been watching a lot of cricket on the box for sometime,i love the Barmy Army who follow England all over the world,a lot of them wear footie shirts and their flags depict their favourite team .So why are they so different from the fans who attend the games on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon?

Former Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie "demands apology". Douchebag!
