Yeah, I do agree really, I've never disliked Beckham. You can't deny him the right to make whatever use he can of his talents, even if from a football point of view it's a shame that so much of him has been diverted into the celebrity lifestyle - when it comes down to it, he's just an East End boy made good, I reckon. (Much like meself, though of course I don't have the looks, or the footballing talent, or the money, or the lifestyle, or the celebrity wife. Though the lovely Mme firehazard is a celebrity in her own way.)

I have always had a soft spot for Beckham. He may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but when he's interviewed he at least attempts to answer the questions honestly, unlike that smug little twat Alan Shearer, who seemed to find it amusing to be as bland and evasive as possible. And now some idiot made Shearer a TV summariser, where he still has nothing worthwhile to say.
Good luck to Beckham. I reckon there's still plenty of football in him, and it'll be a huge boost for soccer in the States to have a 'name' there.
I'd like to know, though, whether no Premiership team would pay what Real were asking, or whether they just didn't fancy the pantomime that accompanies Beckham wherever he goes.
