How long will they give him before the chants of "Shearer Shearer" are sounding out round the ground at St James Park?

I'll say 2 months

As Newcastle seem to be a completely self destructing team what with their past player brawls and their inability to keep a manager I always admire the brilliant loyalty of their fans. How can they make that noise when they've got nothing to shout about? - although I can't talk, I'm an Everton fan
Would it not seem a good idea to Newcastle to look outside the premiership for a manager, try finding a different type of manager - not someone from a huge foreign club or anything but a manager with potential (they could still be a british manager, knowing how important that is to many fans, but perhaps currently abroad?). I know it's easier said than done but surely it's better than bringing in strings of managers from lower or mid-division permier league teams like Bolton and Portsmouth and then wondering why they dont compete at the level of the big clubs of which they consider themselves one?

I dont think anyone will be given time to do anything up there apart from Keegan and Shearer!

Easy answer; give it to those 2 and leave them to it!

Looks like 'Arry 'as turned it down in the end: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 180147.stm

Good decision by him, I reckon. So perhaps they might as well give the job to Shearer straight away? Go on, you know you want to...

Well according to Toon they want an experienced manager. From what I can see, the only manager currently available who fits that criteria is.... Steve McLaren.

How I'll piss myself if they end up with him.

BTW - up the O's today. Away to Forest. Unfortunately I cannot be there today, but went last year when we stuffed them 3-1.

Reading between the lines Newcastle met him during the week to sound him out and got the thumbs up, hence the official approach.

Then the missus says "I aint moving from here, you'll have to fly up and back each day" (journey time wouldnt be much different from his current drive from Poole to Pompey). On Saturday, Newcastle say "we don't want a commuting manager" and the rest is history.

In his statement he said "I wouldnt have minded moving up...."

Wonder how his Betfair account is looking.

Always follow the missus' advice, that's my motto. Or so Mme firehazard tells me.

Like every 'Ammer I know, I 'ave a soft spot for 'Arry.

And I'd give you good odds that his Betfair account is impeccable.

Seems like Afonso Alves is set for Boro.

In the Netherlands he is a phenomenon and wonder how he will do in England.

This year he scored 6 goals at his return
