Don't know how much hope we should have in this life when World Peace (the NBAer formerly known as Ron Artest) gets thrown out of a game for a blatant elbow-probably will lead to a long suspension.

Good ol' Ron Artest...he can change his name but not his character...remember when he attacked fans back in '04? And how about the domestic violence charges? He can call himself whatever he likes, but once a douche, always a douce.

Metta World Peace is the only Laker I can stand. Former Lakers Shaquille O'Neal, Derek Fisher and Lamar Odom were ok. Hell, Shaq was great.

Ron Artest is crazy. Period. But... and I am not saying what he did was acceptable, he's in a profession that doesn't really care about the players mental states or personal issues unless they have to. Kobe Bryant being the prime example. That's one fucked up dude. Looking beyond the rape charges, Bryant called a ref a gay slur and the Lakers lined two other players next to him in the PSA they felt pressured to make. Bryant said it, so why were they letting him hide amongst teammates?

I liked when Artest said he was going to Compton after they won the Championship (not Disneyland) and it was too funny when he thanked his psychiatrist, who they later spun as his Success Visualization Therapist or whatever they're called. Yeah, I dunno.

He pushed his wife down, kept her from calling 911 and neglected his dogs. He kinda sucks at life... but the Lakers must know how crazy he really is, right?

I always hoped that World Peace would turn on Bryant actually. Bryant is always doing shit under the radar. Artest doesn't do under the radar.

Not that I'm saying it's ok. It isn't.

The fans threw drinks at the players in Auburn Hills and got a beat down for their trouble. I'm sure people got hurt that weren't involved, still... who throws drinks at giant NBA players and why would you run onto the court during a melee like that? Detroit ain't no joke.

My favorite player is Rajon Rondo, who has been known to toss balls to  refs when they aren't fully primed to catch them. 8)

Plenty of diehard Laker fans will defend World Peace to the end, Kobe Bryant is their king after all. I think it was a fucked up thing that happened but he didn't look sane on the tape. He didn't look fully present, he's nuckin futs. Maybe he needs real mental help.

He does say he regrets his name change.

The last NBA game I attended was in Sacramento vs Celtics. It's a great place to see a game, apparently the smallest NBA arena? About 35-40% of the crowd was in Celtics attire, which is crazy different from Staples Center. I really can't stand seeing games there now that it's all Kobe all the time. Bleurgh. Sacramento was a nice change from the Staples Center bs scene.

Yup, old school charm. Some other favs from days gone by:

Clyde "The Glide" Drexler, Robert Parrish, Terry Cummings, and the oft dismissed Kurt Rambis. Good times, good times...

I remember the Celtics-Lakers series back in 1984 when Rambis viciously ran into Kevin McHale's forearm

(ha!) and with McHale's boyish good looks he seemed so innocent!

Game 4 Today 8:00 p.m. ET
Philadelphia
ESPN

Those one point games were a killer.

I watched the Metta World Peace interview.
He's a moron, yet somehow charming in a completely asinine way.

Kobe Bryant only confirmed everything bad about himself with his statement about World Peace.
Watched the Lakers to root against them only tro see freaking Justin Timberlake approaching the court to touch Bryant.
Almost lost my gyros.
Sit your ass down.
