Much like the Magic Kingdom. And yet my desire to be there? Still remarkably non-findable.

Jakarta looks like a bargain if you don’t mind 30 hours flight time. :(
The hotel facades aren’t timid.

The last time I saw such low hotel rates I was looking at Lima, Peru. Man on fire!
I know that was Mexico City, but... Man on fire!

Just returned from a few days in The Bay Area, where I went for a hike in the lovely Corte Madera Shorebird Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary. As well as showing me various egrets, rails, a kite, and more turkey vultures than you could shake a stick at, it also gave me this lovely view of San Quentin prison:

Chatted with an elderly birding couple i ran into, who seemed surprised that I knew what we were looking at. I explained to them that "Oh sure, I saw Johnny Cash play there in '69..."

If i'm not mistaken, the lovely DzM lives in the Bay Area, but i was on a fully programmed quick in & out trip, but we loved it and will go back, so hopefully next time we'll hang!

Was a bit annoyed that it was Vancouver weather while we were there, but came back to having missed several rare-ish days of snow here, which i actually enjoy, so I'm feeling a bit ripped off that i missed the snow but didn't get the warmth. However, it did snow again last night so I did get to shovel the walk this morning, so that was some consolation.

Fun thing about where San Quintin is situated: If there wasn't a prison on that land then it would be some of the most sought after land in the Bay Area for development. It commends a lovely and unique view that looks south over the Bay all the way to San Jose (insert joke here about "who would want to see San Jose?").

Anyway - yeah. Nice timing, Tex. Jan/Feb/March is traditionally our wet time of the year, and you managed to be right in the middle of some of our biggest storms of the last two decades.

Yeah, that was something. The elderly couple seemed concerned, wanted to drive me back to my hotel. I was all like "No it's ok, this is typical Vancouver weather..." and of course shortly after it picked up and I was soaked thru to the skin and facing a 45 min walk against the driving wind back to the hotel. I got changed, the sun came out, so I went out to pay homage to Trader Joe... and got soaked to the skin AGAIN. That was all my clothes that i brought, so i spent the afternoon in bed watching "Tiny Homes" and "Hoarders", waiting for Mrs. Me to finish her workshop and for my clothes to dry.

Looking like I’ll briefly be in Seattle come January, so I say to myself... “Alaska!”
Yeah, no. It don’t work like that. :)

Reminds me of when the Lovely Mrs. DzM and I vacationed in New Zealand once. "We'll rent a car in Auckland and drive to the southern tip, then back up. We'll have 10 days. That's should be plenty of time. Like doing a California road trip."

Turns out - nope.

Holy crap. That's an amazing deal.

I have an employee that flew from Reno to San Francisco last week. $800 round trip. Your pricing is WAY better.

When you stupidly place yourself in Vegas during the CES thingy, LOL. :)
So... I will happily divert to Texas for $88.30.
