Hey Duke, therein lies the problem, most people in the British Isles have heard of them but could not tell you where they are
When Britian had trouble with Argentina way back in the 80's, all the news flashes stated that Argentina had invaded the Falkland Islands, most of us were thinking what the fuck are they doing invading an island off the coast of Scotland :? :?

So your advice is I should better plan a trip to Atlantis cos it might be easier to find ? Well, I´ll have a go then ... :)

In late September early October I was in England, Wales and France. Last time I'd seen London it was 1976. Fabulous this time, the city's changed. Saw the Francis Bacon exhibit and a couple of shows. Visited Irishbookish and her brood in Wales, which was a blast. Then Paris. Lived there for a year once so it was great to walk down memory lane. On to Marseille, which refreshingly doesn't give a fuck about tourists. Most of the trip we dodged the rain, but in Aix, we got so drenched the shoes I was wearing were still wet when I got home four days later.

Hey Eckhard, enjoy yourself.

As I told you before I've been there a few times so if you need any advice, don't hesitate to ask.

BTW, I am so jealous.

We´ve changed our minds and decided to go to Sardinia for a week in late February. Anyone ever been there to give us some advice what to do, where to go etc. ? Cheers.

Just get off the aireoplane. Announce proudly "I am an American Citizen. Your Mickey Mouse Laws mean nothing to me. Where the ethnic womens at? How many lira for blumpy?"

The rest of the trip will be very scenic and will give you stories to tell for generations.

Last month - spent a week with Fred Eaglesmith Band, Lance Loree, Washboard Hank, Po' Girl and others in New Mexico and Colorado. The trip was billed as 'Roots on the Narrow Gauge' - included a couple of trips up into the mountains on old coal burning steam trains. We met a ton of cool people, got to hang out and play with some great musicians, - amazing scenery, better music!
I actually worked up the nerve to get on stage at an open mic with a fiddle player I had just met. Had an amazing time - people clapped - I might do it again!

Fred and Band will be in London and Dublin next week - if you get a chance - get out and see them!!

Eat cheese. Lots of it. Seriously, we buy this amazing sardinian goat cheese, cheap too, around the corner, it's something like a strong, aged chedder crossed with good romano or something... i dunno. But it's great. And Sardinians are some of the longest-living people on the planet, and something in the cheese that is good for the brain is one of the reasons (along with clean air and other, hard-to-import things).

Okay, I got that. What is the best way to make them believe from the start that I am an American citizen ? Dressed completely in Uncle Sam clothes and staggering off the plane with a hamburger and a coke in my hands ? Or anything more subtle to make more fun out of it ?

Thanks for the advice. I like strong cheese. If I return to this forum all sophisticated, you´ll know where it´s from. On the other hand, it´s not always the best to have a brain that works properly ... :D

All kinds of awesome on that trip. I'm truly jealous, sir.
