This thread was originally split off from the "Saga of ..." thread so that there would be one dedicated to the music (and hence in Shared Glory) and one dedicated to the backstory (hence in Speaker's Corner). Since the two are more-or-less updated interchangeably with backstory updates I am now preferring to recombine them under the Speaker's Corner thread.

Barring any strong opposition, the merge will happen later today (Tuesday).

The first message of the combined thread was posted on Dec 15, 2005. Since then there have been 960 posts in the intervening 579 days. That means the combined thread averages just over 1.6 messages a day. The Speaker's Corner forum reaps threads if they've gone idle for more than 90 days.

I'd say your opus is in no danger of being reaped.

IrishRover wrote:It was the initial judgement that the story of my music, efforts and backstory was not worthy of Shane forum. Now you're deciding I'm not worthy of Shared Glory. Thank you, and thanks for showing such sympathies at this moment, when I'm down at the bottom again. Thanks.

First let me clear up something you're saying here. This is not a value judgement on you or your worthiness. This has nothing to do with my opinions of you, my sympathies for your difficulties in finding a "crew," etc. This has entirely to do with the content of these threads, and placing that content in the right areas of these fora.

This thread was moved from the Shane forum because it has little to do with Shane.

The thread was split into two threads in order to make the information about your music (and live shows, and recordings, and whatever else Irish Rover & The Crew might do) easily accessible to the casual Pogues fan looking for something new.

Since you're determined that both threads are appropriate places for updates about getting guitars, personnel problems, hangovers, etc, then the threads belong together again, and the thread belongs in Speaker's Corner. This isn't a death sentence for your thread; it's just putting it where it belongs.

If you disagree, please tell me why. Convince me.

Oirish, what does it care where the thread is located?

even if it´s located in Speakers corner, you can still do your uppdates

And to be fair, it´s not much of a crew for the last year and it´s def. not having anything to do with Shane at the moment.

Good luck in finding your crew, but the thread def. belongs in Speakers Corner.

I agree with evrything Johan says. The shane thread is for articles about shane which your band is not. Also, its more accessible in speakers corner

Soince the begoinning it was meant to be one thread - OIrishRover & The Crew, music story. Lots of stuff came up besoides, questions, opinions, oissues of doifferent koind, people asked stuff, oi answered.. but is all stuck woith the story, where oi am, what oi am woith the music me loife is oriented to, connected woith it in some way, woith the music path oi was oinvesting all me efforts from 2005. and all thats related to it. And besoides the backstory posts, theres posts of all me previous music work, mp3s, poictures, events woithin' the band etc. Do all threads in Shane or Shared Glory carry only "clean" music posts and nothing more? .. its far from that, and oif theres dozens and hundreds of bands deserve to be in Shared Glory only cause their music story and backstory came up to be shorter, they're honoured to be part of the Shared Glory.. and oim to be moved to forum where theres threads "threads that don't deserve threads" and where theres everythoing but bands.. Oi felt wrong when thread was oinitially sploit and part of it moved to Speaker's Corner, even that hurted and wasn't roight. Would oi be honoured in such way, oif me music story came up to be more successful by now, everythoing is judgement and a matter of honour. :(

it is a judgement after all.. it is what it is; truth is one, not an ointerpretation;
read the description of the forums..
Shared Glory
Cover bands, covered songs, bands inspired by The Pogues, etc.
Speaker's Corner
A place to post nearly anything. Random stuff, personals, momentary ideas. Threads are auto-pruned after three months of inactivity.

judgement, OIrishRover & The Crew, music story & woider backstory woith enormous efforts, struggle and pain at where oi am - band or anythoing, prunable thread; oif oim nearly anythoing, prunable crap, then thanks DzM, oif thats what ya thoink is the place oi deserve, belong and that represents all the posts by me and Medusans coveroing the story of OIrishRover & Crew

Yeah yeah yeah. You're so persecuted. I've got my boot-waffle firmly pressed into your throat, etc.

The two threads have been recombined.

many thanks for askin' Esthter, respect 'n' greetoings for ya
theres a reason for me beein' off the postoing woithin' Medusa, oi've wroitten a statement, heres the stuff oi can only stress out at thois point:

OIrishRover & Crew, is a band, expression, music story, loife struggle, message woith a point; one cannot choose place of boirth and sadly oim not in a position to be in Dublin, London or elsewhere where people do make OIrish bands that work out pretty much oinstantly and have regular goigs; as Noel Kenny said, oif one is born in a stable, it doesn't mean he must be a horse; oi represent a music message that has been down and is currently down, stuck in the mud and oi meself am in the mud; but from above, "clean spot 'n' clean shoes", the proven cenzoirshoiper(s), few, have spoitted once more and thois toime completely removing every soingle message of moine and Medusans from the music forum, Shared Glory and previously from Shane forum, stating and judgoing oim not worthy to be condoidered as band and although hundreds or thousands of bands are honoured to be treated as bands woith not just music but also woith besoides story, ointire OIrishRover & Crew thread is put on the dump as non-music thread. And tis' done in the moment of me latest attempt to recreate the Crew and the sad crash as many toimes before. Oi've said to those few cenzoirshoipers, especially 1 and 2, and oi say it once more.. ya've doiscraced yarselves woith cenzoirshoip and woith thois action even deeper down on the ladder of essence human values. The doiscrace is even greater, the named ones at several attempts claimed hoigh thoughts and support towards me struggle etc, but masks fall even at best actors. Me wroitting & partoicipating in the made situation would be far from honour and beyond the music & essence oi represent and woish to express. Oi ain't woilling to join' the cenzoirshoipers' judgments, spoitting and declaring meself to be anythoing, non-music related choit-chat. Oif oi have sth left in me loife, thats the traces of selfrespect and essence awerness that even the doirty Serbian mud couldn't spoil.
