pogues cover band

there is a wicked band in montreal, canada doing all the good rocking pogues music. there web site inst ready yet, but if your ever in montreal look out baby..the lead singers a welsh woman with punk blood. i danced so hard , it still hurts!!! there called the irish lys band.

seems me that almost all these bands are Pogues tributes, not really just Shane MacGowan tributes. So, really this isin the rong section isn't it? Sorry, but it annoys me everytime I see it! I know i' am bein petty but cant help it!wc

Yup,they all are...except us...we're doing Shane's stuff...there will be some songs he wrote within Pogues...but the majority will be of Crock of Gold and Snake 8)

Ahoy,today is 6th rehearsal of Irish Rover and The Crew Band...and today we also have a candidate for 5th band member for bass guitar :D
Currently we have vocal(thats me),guitar,violin,drums.It goes pretty noice and oi hope with all me heart we'll survive as band(thats the most important thing,everything else comes in toime).
Oi'll try to record sth and post a link if ya'd loike to hear it...so far we started with 4 songs...OirishRover(what else lol),More pricks than kicks,Mother Mo Chroi and Lonesome Highway :D

More good news 8)
In Monday Irish Rover and The Crew will make some first real demo recordings!That probably means...OirishRover,More pricks than kicks,Mother Mo Chroi and Lonesome Highway.
We plan first gig for spring toime :D

Ádh mór agat, a mhic! Good luck with it! I'm a singer meself, been known to sing the odd Pogues/MacGowan song as well as heaps o' trad and other bolshie workers songs an' such. The world needs more like Shane, but those of us who attempt to follow in his shadow are much like wee pixies pissed outta oor tiny heids standing on the shoulders of the like of He and Luke Kelly and Christy and the giants in the land before us. Mind you, there's a GRAND feckin' view from up here on the shoulder though. :wink:
