From the "F.A.Q." section on another music chat page. It's the first F.A.Q.

1. Why are people screaming at each other and posting insults instead of talking about the music?
This is a phenomenon known as "flaming" or "flame-wars", that occurs in practically every open discussion forum on the Internet. It is caused by the distance and relative anonymity that the users feel when they are "safe behind the keyboard" and lower the threshold for insulting others. My advice is not to get involved in arguments on the net, you'll never win anyway. Also, you are kindly asked to follow these simple rules when posting in the guestbook:

1. Do not use the guestbook for personal messages.
2. Think before you post. Don't post anything you would not dare to say to someone face to face.
3. Do not post serious insults, personal attacks or too many four-letter words.
4. Respect that this is a web site in honour of The Band and their music.

We tolerate most entries though, but real serious insults, entries with too many four-letter words, and heavy personal attacks will be removed from the guestbook.

Petition eh? Great idea! They mostly tend not to work in my experience.

I manage 500+ people at work. I like to think I operate a benign meritocracy but if one of them started a petition against me, I would momentarily admire their bravery and then point them the way to job centre plus. If one called me a Nazi, I'd kick their arse all the way there.
That's how it is in the free world.

Have a word with yourself.

I must say I'm disappointed to hear you consistently using terms that are deemed highly offensive today, Oirish.
You are ruining any chances of ever getting to Ireland or the UK or anywhere else nursing those sort of sympathies and hatred. You simply can't go around inciting this sort of thing in our society. I doubt Shane MacGowan is happy seeing his name associated in the same paragraph of some of the things you're saying.
I know you're disappointed and all but taking it out on everyone is severing your dream and breeding the contempt that you are so vehemently against. You are spending so much time with this hate campaign that you are missing the opportunity of living each day as it comes and creating a life for yourself - wherever you may be. The opportunities might come someday - but certainly not like this.

I note that Zuzana and I have been added to the list of Managerial types. I've updated Fake OIroishroiver's post to reflect the current "petition" text.

NewJerseyRich, what have you been doing wrong? Why aren't you on the list?

Because Jefe, NJR not only allows Irishrover to post his petition on the "Pogues" facebook page, he also tried in vain to cram IR's music/website/plight down everyone's throat a while back. (FFS)

Ahh. Well, NJR is still new to this. Practice will surely get him onto the list eventually. God loves a trier, after all.

Oirish actually invited me to join this group, but I declined. Don't know if anyone else has, can't bear to look.

This is clearly not the work of Oirish Rover as there are no OI's in the text.
