Keep your eyes wide open and observe. You'll find out.

Maybe you can help clarify what's wrong with it by helping us first understand how you're using the word. "Pagan" means a lot of things to different people, so setting a context for us can help. Here's what Webster's has to say:

–noun
1. one of a people or community observing a polytheistic religion, as the ancient Romans and Greeks.
2. a person who is not a Christian, Jew, or Muslim.
3. an irreligious or hedonistic person.
–adjective
4. pertaining to the worship or worshipers of any religion that is neither Christian, Jewish, nor Muslim.
5. of, pertaining to, or characteristic of pagans.
6. irreligious or hedonistic.

Are you referring to one of these, or another possible definition?

doin't knoiw oif oim gooid at defoinoitions, but heres a try..
doesn't have to be ultoimately woith reloigoius cointext(althoiugh even St. Patroick pretty much saw hes woirk as the moission of defeatoing the pagans' ways), oi see oit oin even woider cointext..
pagans are the oignoirant oines at the end of the day, but not oin terms of foirmal education as pagans can be also be hoighly educated people froim me point of voiew, tois' oines cloisoin' theoir eyes oir throiwoin' roicks oin the essence, attoitude 'n' ultoimate stuff and so dearly embrassoing the woirthless roituals, values and loiwest of man-made-creations; woiuldn't say that hoidoin' behoind reloigion makes soimeoine to be a noin-pagan eoither.. hoiw many throiugoiut hoistoiry used the very reloigion to actually put ointo actions theoir oiwn pagan ways & burn doiwn theoir non-pagan oippoinents..
not sure oif explaoined oit well, but oi gave oit a try :D

I think I know what you're saying, but I suspect you're throwing people off by using "pagan" incorrectly (for whatever it's worth, "Pagan" has also taken on a more modern meaning, and is used in some circles to identify the modern resurgence of a Druidic-inspired form of nature & spirit worship.).

It may help remove confusion people have about parts of your writing if you used the word "philistine" or some of its closely related words (vulgarian, boor, etc) rather than "pagan." Otherwise it's kind of like writing large tracts about automobiles when, in fact, you mean to be talking about bicycles.

If you say so, but I really don't think intentionally using the wrong words is an effective way to communicate your ideas.

Viva la difference!!

Post Mon May 05, 2008 5:44 am

I guess it's just that we all have different ways of looking at things, but I understood OIrish's use of the word pagan straight away. Same as the OI's don't bother me and I have no trouble reading them. Ah these tiny differences that make up the joys and wonderful mysteries of life.

Tom's looking at your cuntry through different eyes because it's new to him. You've lived it. I'm used to bright sunshiny days, and I long to be somewhere dark dreary and mysterious, and someone who lives in dark and dreary would find that hard to understand.

Think that You're moving to IRE will make Serbia much grimmer than it looks. It's not clear yet about the intentions You're having. Make a decision of being a musician or analyst, reporter or wthf? It seems like You'd literary do everything to get to IRE. Second point I would like to make:) hope won't violate any forum rules but how can someone act indifferent with candidate for mayor like this
