many thanks foir yer koind woirds jenny, and ye explaoined oit very noicely; tois' the case, as ye woish to make the canvas aloive, to broing to loife the exact oimages ye have oin yer moind.. same thoing oim tryoin' to do oin musoic, to make OIroish essence & attoitude aloive throiugh lyroics, musoic, soingoin' & playoin' guoitar; tois' the ultoimate feeloing; to make the magoic aloive! soimetoimes oits so easy, when thoings just foind theoir oiwn place throiugh soime soirt of devoine oinpoiration, foir example.. a song coimes to me oinstantly, oit just appears and oi can wroite all the loines oin a few secoids, everythoing's there and foits perfectly, and oit rocks woith furious devoition! the very end, the peak of makoing the magoic aloive ois and shoiuld be effoirtless and loighted as purest of phoiloisoiphoies but gettoin' there ois a path thats coild shoiwered woith realoity - to put the stoiry where oit beloings, to foind loikemoinded crew mates, makoin' an oinstrument to be part of magoic proicess, not a peace of wooid & stroings soiundoin' doifferently than the magoic deserves.. me jaoilplace sadly broiught too many of thoise realoity coild shoiwers, but at the end of the day, me passoioin's name ois stoill the same - oits furious devoition! praoise the loird, oi'll walk the OIroish soil oine day & soing the OIroishRover..

PS. Jenny, doin't goive oit a soingle thoiught to whether people(moist or plenty) woill loike yer creations; real stuff loives and woill foind oits path and true froiends, the moist oimpoirtant stuff ois to be hoinest to yerself; oif oi wanted to be loiked by many just foir the sake of oit, then oid be a Serboian poseur, actoin' oiut woith fake Crew members, wroitoin' quasoi-OIroish-Serboian lyroics and oid be playoin' oin Serboia toiday woith several "albums" publoished.. remember - essence & attoitude are never foir sale & oinly true saoiloirs saoil the real seas! :D

IrishRover sort of wrote:I'll serve my 9 months of civilian service. No other way to put Serbia and misery behind me. I'll perform the service, but at the end of the day I'm doing it for myself & Ireland, not for Serbia. I need to find out when the next "service period" is due to start, hopefully it'll be before September. My service should be over by Spring of next year. I'll also ask for a passport of a nearby country. If there's any chance to get one, it would make emigration easier after I complete my service.

That's fantastic IrishRover. I'm so happy to see you moving forward with your plans! Hopefully by April of 2009 you'll be in Ireland!

As I've said before, please tell the Medusa community if there's anything we can do to help. There's a lot of good-willed people here that will be happy to help you out.

"thats the truth, oits always hard to accept the bad realoity"

Tis right, so you may accept the fact, that essence of irish music won´t be found at one Pogues gig. All foreigners have problems with playing in irish style (no wonder you have found nobody). But it takes several years before it starts to get better. I believe it´s like with language - you can learn words and gramatics, but your accent will be still tainted, and will more or less fade away after years of being in the country, where the language is native. At least with tin whistle, it sure is similar.

Excellent, Oirish. Sounds like it's a good way to move forward. It ain't always easy to get where you want, and sometimes (often) you have to wade through the deep mud, but if you want something enough it's worth it in the end. And the long and rocky road round is often the best way to get there.

[Mud, rocks, this metaphor has lost its way. Sorry. Anyway, good luck, Oirish. Stay positive.]

Take with you an old guitar, strength of spirit, friends in your heart, and your eye on an unwavering future...

'..From there I got away, My spirits never failin'
Landed on the quay As the ship was sailin';
Captain at me roared, Said that no room had he,
When I jumped aboard, A cabin found for Paddy,
Down among the pigs I played some funny rigs,
Danced some hearty jigs, The water round me bubblin',
When off Holyhead, I wished myself was dead,
Or better far instead, on the rocky road to Dublin..'.

The Hog wrote:OIroioish,

Well it certainly may not be as easy to get out of Serbia as in the rest of western europe but I am looking at your situation from a different perspective and of course everyone is different in their strengths & weaknesses and from the way people approach problems and how they deal with problems.......each person might have a different way in dealing with problems, trauma's,crisi's, etc.

"The end justifies the means" is a phrase often used here and there with people for getting results in life, although I would'nt apply this anecdote in all areas of life, but I see you HAVE a way of getting your visa but its just you dont want to seem to do it.
For me and personally speaking I would just go and go through the state and do the 8 or 9 monts in the Serbian security forces/army, it is not a very long time if you think about it, why not look at it as your strategy for "escaping your Serbain jail"??????? dont be thinking about the visa part of it and the negative side of only "getting 3 months" out of jail...........when you get here to Ireland then you can deal with the next problem, why not take it 1 step at a time????? First go through the state, do the 8/9 months in the service, keep focused on "the Prize" at the end of the 8/9 months and the "Huge Rewards" of getting out of Serbia and getting to your "Spiritual Homeland" (Ireland).....................Christ, I can honestly tell you that if I was you, I would do it, its just that simple
If you go for the Czech Republic option, you must not try to earn money as a musicain in the very beginning.......we have another saying here in Ireland - "you must crawl before you can walk", again, its taking it step by painful step but you eventually get there if YOU ARE FOCUSED. Just depends on how much and how badly you really want something.
The other option which for me would not be an option at all , would be to just sit there in "your jail" and lament your plight but no matter how much you will complain, it is like "pissing into the wind".
Again I hpe you can get some wisdom out of what I have said here and that it will help and motivate you to get up and take a stand and make a DECISION and have a "goal" in your sights and "blow those cobwebs" off your eyes.
I just hope what I have told you can be helpful for you.

Michael

I know I don't normally post on this thread, but i always make a point of reading it, and i just couldnt resist saying that your decision sounds like GREAT news - not so great that you have to undergo something bad to acheive your goal, but that now pretty soon you will. And just well done for being so brave - surely that kind of courage is all part of the essence and attitude you believe so strongly in... :)
