Each time I thought of Oirish today, I had me smile. He made my own exile from Ireland a little less of a burden. I hope he spends the next 17 years working on a big literary puzzle that very few understand. Dylan Thomas (a fan of Finnegans Wake) would have loved Oirish.

I'm glad he comes here and see no reason to ban him, that just seems silly.

Unfortunately we had discussions like this before where threads have been started about a certain person that have ended in them being banned and I hope this doesn't happen to him in this case.

He's a great character, let him write the way he wants.

I Agree!! There's too much crap in this world to worry about how Oirish writes. Maybe DzM can get some of us one of those programs that can decipher the "OI's"....or...simply ignore his posts. But don't ban the guy!! He's a personality we need here!

If it gets infectious, we should really start to think about banning... ;)

So thanks Simon for opening up the discussion – and thanks to all others who expressed their opinions, no matter unpopular they may be.

Your welcome Zuzana, I just want to point out I don't have a personnel problem with Oirish, nor his race, I don't find his way of spelling offensive or Racist, In a bizarre way him wanting to write as if he had a Dublin accent is sort of complementary. I find it plain bloody annoying is all.

Apologies to Oirish if it came across as Banning Petition. No hard feeling I hope?

I don't find Oirish the slightest bit annoying. However there are others here whose posts I tend to skip over, so lets be tolerant. I do feel embarrassed though that there is this discussion happening about one of ours right in front of him for God's sake, with no regard for his feelings. Keep up the oi's Oirish!

I still chuckle that there's a place called emo :D
I know Michael (Mick) McDermott who's from Emo - and as for the rest of the Portlaoise lads I know, there's way too many to name! Although one of my friends David O'Mahony plays for Portlaoise hurling team
