Now , you understand this is a purely selfish thread, just for my own curiosity. That being said, I'd like to know (from those into this sort of thing) who your favorite contemporary artist is. If they have a website, I wouldn't complain if you provided it. Mine, at the moment is a Thom Ross who paints images of the old American West in a very stylized way. Next week, who knows.
Did the old songs taunt or cheer you, and did they still make you cry?

Currently:
Rediscovered Edward Hopper this past summer. I like the way the paintings describe America in the everyday. There is something calm and simple. The colors are very beautiful and there is a nice softness to the work.

The paintings look good in person, not so good on the web, but if you click on them and see them bigger it helps (there are 6 pages of paintings...).

Hands down Chris Mars. Photos of his work do not do justice to the beauty up close. He has been called a "modern day master".
