Famous bastard James O'Neill in character at Philadelphia's Walnut Street Theatre, which I love.
OMG. Those eyes. Eugene O'Neill looked so much like his father.
1899
James O'Neill, father of playwright Eugene O'Neill, made his debut with a two-week appearance at the Walnut in September 1899. O'Neill starred in two Alexandre Dumas plays. The first week he played D'Artagnan in The Three Musketeers (shown here), and the second week he played his most famous role, Edmund Dantes in The Count of Monte Cristo.
