Don’t care for the young-in’s. They bring the violence.
Cubs are bad news.

Pompsie talkin’ shit about Silver Legacy and Reno.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6x3lb6C ... uCl4AaABAg

Recently won $528 on a slot there (which I shall not name).

It was a mild 103* degrees.

I freaking love Reno and Downtown Reno.

He didn’t even go into the CalNeva, so he has no idea. LOL.

Spoiled ass, Pompsie.

My favorite is when bartenders say “take it to the ElDorado” to bickering guests. Went there early one morning (from a nicer hotel) and won more money than I had in my wallet on a Batman & Robin slot and have loved Reno since. Those machines are gone now. They paid off too much.

Mountain Goats are lovely. We were going to go to Olympic National Park in Washington hoping to see Mountain Goats back in Spring 2019 but then this pandemic happened and...

Yeah, just read an article where they compared the obnoxious AF Grizzly Man guy with the lauded Into the Wild guy as far as perception and actual accomplishment out in nature.

While the Grizzly Man guy survived season after season, the other basically went nowhere he intended in Alaska and perished. Which is certainly an approach to things.

There's a video of.a wolf biting a bear's ass in Yellowstone.
That's something you don't see every day.

Timothy Treadwell (The "Grizzly Man") was indeed obnoxious AF (and clearly mentally ill on some level), but as you say he arguably did better in the woods. I think Werner Herzog did a good job on the film, and gave him a fair shake, both the good and bad.

One of the most compelling parts of that film, I thought, was the interview with Canadian bear expert Charlie Russell, who has raised & released orphaned Grizzly bears. There is a great film about him The Edge of Eden: Living with Grizzlies (which also exists in abbreviated form as The Bear Man of Kamchatka ).

Image

It's a beautiful film and if you can find it you should watch it. It's always treacherous and generally wrong to describe things as "opposites", but I feel comfortable saying that while Russell's fascination with Grizzlies equals Treadwill's, their approaches are opposite.

ON ANOTHER NOTE... I was confused earlier, and the film i was thinking about was Project Grizzly ,

Image
https://www.nfb.ca/film/project_grizzly/

a 1996 documentary telling the true story of knife-weilding, leather-fringe-wearing, mulletted Canadian mountain man & inventor Troy James Hurtubise and his obsession with developing an "encounter suit" to make it safe to interact with Grizzly Bears. For science, of course.

Please everyone, if you haven't seen this film just go watch it right now - you can watch it free streaming at the link above (or maybe just free for Canadians it's an NFB film). It is a true story, and the inspiration for the song I mentioned earlier.

I consider these three films, taken together, as "The Grizzly Trilogy" and if you enjoy one you will likely enjoy all three.

Las Vegas and San Francisco.

Christmas shopping in Japantown! Even though I’m done shopping. :D

Before the world shuts down again. :(

Wanted to go to Dublin in January, but being a pessimist I’m thinking not bloody likely now.
I read all the rules about having to register a phone, your every location, etc. as a tourist prior to this new variant.
It’s a lot and just makes you think next year, or... the next, or... the next.

We have been in Australia for a week and I'm thinking I need to start work on an Ark. I'm a Mancunian and I have never seen rain like it! The forecast for the next fortnight is equally depressing...

Just returned from a week in Maui. It was lovely. Trade-winds in the afternoon, but otherwise - mid 70s F (mid-20s C) day and night, not overly humid, sunny days, lovely snorkeling. I recommend it.

Awesome postcard. Can't say I've ever been to Virginia City, but the 1940s version of it looks charming as hell.

Black Black gum was gonna be on that list but I've just tried it and still have an unopened pack.
