Yes Chinaski, he's got a lot to answer for and a lot of catching up to do. About 2 weeks worth!!! Unless it's just that nothing ever happened on those days....

Aw, shucks. Don't fret, Li'l Chinaski. Ol' Uncle O'B is right here.

Work has been a bitch of late. I don't have near as much time to screw off these days.

HOWEVER...I just entered the 21st Century and got rid of my dial-up service. Hi speed, baby! So it no longer takes all damned day to post one of these things.

I think I've done at least a whole year of these, so you can always look back over history, Santayana-like. Little known fact: last year's "On This Day" also applies to this year!

I'm probably not going to do every day, but I'm way too thick-headed to quit.

Speaking of quitting: hasn't George Bush said anything stupid lately?

May 17th.

Got myself betrothed. An amazing party....open bar and two kegs killed culminating in the local fire marshal shutting us down for setting off illegal fireworks and burning a pile of long-dead Christmas trees. I told you guys you should try to make it. I will post some pics as soon as someone emails me some.

Here's one photo of me and my bride. If I can find any of the explosions or the christmas trees or the granite bar or the cops I'll post.

I climbed aboard this raft. Glad I'm still on. :)

Hmm. And yet:

Seems the Tax Man was particularly hard on our Dok Avalanche this year.

Hi again,

I've been spending less time on my computer this summer and therefore, less time here. I used to be on the Medusa a lot while I was working (how ironic), as I needed to be on a computer the entire time. Since I've been part of the massive American layoff, I have found myself otherwise engaged with the "real world:" home remodeling, travel, reading actual books. Since I was gone for so long, I was daunted by the prospect of catching up here. I was on top of the daily discussions, and filled my time reading most everything new. So, I decided to just "mark all posts read" and go forward.

I'll be lurking, maybe adding here and there, but have not abandoned ye.

Today, I became a student of the Open University.

I've been toying with the idea for a few months and today my student pack arrived!!

I will be studying, Scriptwriting, although the course is not called this, it's actually called Start Writing Plays. It all started when I started going back to the theatre after a twenty year absence of not going. First thing I wanted to do was perform on the stage again, but at my age its not easy to get in, although not impossible. Then I asked myself, what else do I like doing, and writing was one of the answers, so over a period of about a year I decided that I'd like to write some plays, did some research and found this course.

I was in two minds whether to go for it or not and wasn't sure that I needed a course to help me as I think I'm a good writer, but I thought maybe there would be something that I may get out of it, so I registered. Having said this, recently I have started writing a play of my own and I think that it's coming on well, I'm trying to get it finished before the course starts, but I may have to abandon it briefly while I do the course and go back to it later.

I'm not sure when the actual start date of the course is yet, it's around the 18th October and the course lasts for 12 weeks. Most of this evening I'm going to be reading the course notes and familiarising myself with what I need to do.

I'm so excited, can't wait to get started. :D
