Don't give up, Heather. I could paper a room with rejection letters. I've thought about doing it from time to time. What's worse is when you don't even get a response.

There's a very positive message there in their acknowledgement of your potential.

I have no intention to Firehazard. As I've said before I enjoy writing plays and nothing's ever felt so right.

Shame I didn't start years ago, but never mind.

On this day in 1973 i was born. "It was 101 degreees in Toronto..." my mother reminds me every year. Don't know what she's complaining about, the hospital had A/C.

37 is not mulitple of 10, so i'm not freaking out, but I was almost depressed for a minute - at the grocery store, getting cake supplies, my 7 yr old grabbed a pack of candles and said "Is this enough candles daddy?" Ever wonder how many bday candles in a box? 36. Sigh, i'm a two-packer now. So instead we bought a "3" and a "7" candle.

Meanwhile, i treated myself to a beer & pizza lunch, and came back to the office to find a cake on my desk and my monitor festooned with ballons, and am heading home to a dinner of steamed musles (and a watermelon loaded with tequila to go with the cake for desert), and a mini concert from my older two kids, so i've nothing at all to complain about. Life is truly the fucking best.

Today, I met a fellow playwright outside the Liverpool Playhouse. We have been following each other on Twitter for a while and he is a Pogues fan.

We were there to check out the Everyword festival but there wasn't actually anything going on while we were there. I spent twenty minutes chatting to him outside the Playhouse and he gave me some really good advice and helpful tips. We then went for coffee and chatted some more. He told me things today that I didn't know and that you can't find on the internet anywhere, like the Royal Court Liverpool do accept plays and said that he would send me the address of where to send it. As I had the Royal Court Liverpool in mind when I was writing the play this seems that this could be the place. He also mentioned that he thought they were looking for a female playwright too, which has made me kind of hopeful. He has also offered to read the play and said he'd send me one of his.

I only spent an hour or so in his company, but feel like I'm now beginning to make a bit of progress towards my goal.

Last week my oldest child officially survived into adulthood (ie: turned 18). Nothing wrong with him, i'm not surprised he's alive, just surprised that the world is still here for him to be alive in!

Two more to go...
