I thought you might, That is why I ended it by stating that it is a shame for all the decent and honourable supporters out there, or did you just blow your gasket without taking the full statement into context ?? I am not insulting Celtic Football Club, Pogues Fans, Irishmen or any other heritage for that matter. Just the little skangers who cannot behave.

Look at certain areas of any disadvantaged city in Ireland/Scotland and you will find lots of the little scumbags wear Celtic Jerseys, sorry but this is extremely true, have you seen the footage of the riots at the Love Ulster parade, or the troubles in Limerick city at the moment. Unfortunately a lot of these scumbags are just looking for an excuse to start trouble.

I know of plenty decent supporters who refuse to be dragged into the whole bigotry behind the scene of Celtic football club, a couple of whom have actually taken it so far as to refuse to attend Old Firm games so as not to be associated with the bigots. Unfortunately because these guys have taken the step of behaving and enjoying themselves without causing upset to anyone else their cause will always be less obvious than the little skanger who comes out of Frazer's in O'Connell Street to throw bricks at the Gardai and loot the shops.

Anyway back to the music please...

Yes, I do think we have to accept that there are little skangers, in and out of Celtic jerseys, to be found all over the world, but especially in the great metropolis of Dublin. Fortunately, the little Dublin skangers are all known personally to me and Santa. who have between us conspired to remove all the Wiis from their Christmas Boxes this year. That'll teach them to ignore Ella Finer!

I can't believe this fucking conversation!!!!

All this is because Scottish Dubliner is pissed off that the kids who are younger, drunker and having a better time were stuck at the back of the hall because of the shite way gigs in Dublin are run. The same kids are in Bixton, Belfast, Glasgow and Brum. Except they can come from the pub at 8.45, walk to the front and go mental like i used too. A thoroughly decent lad like TOSCS is one off those. DON'T BLAME THE KIDS

Did anyone ever see trouble at a Pogues gig? I've been to well over 50 since 1988 and never anything but good times. Only hassle ever is in The Point or RDS with over zealous security and Kids up for a good time.

P.S. Shane wore a Celtic jersey at Nottingham last year. See here....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0RRne6s888

Yes, yes yes, I don't think we're suggesting that all wearers of Celtic Jerseys should be sent to the Camps. Somehow, I'm struggling to visualize how depriving him of his Wii would have much effect on MacGowan's behaviour.

Sorry, exactly where in my conversation does it say I was pissed off with the way the Gig was run, I had a great time, I was overjoyed to see the atmosphere more akin to a football match than a gig, especially during Fiesta, Sickbed and Wild Rover.

The majority of youngsters were having a brilliant time without upsetting anyone, apart from the three skangers who wanted to pick a fight with me because I didn't move out of their way fast enough as they charged head first into me and my girlfriend during Soho of all songs.

As for trouble at a Pogues gig, while standing at the back picking up Tshirts and Posters after the gig some other skanger (around 30year old btw) tried to dip my girlfriends purse!!

the Pogues, whether they or you like it or not, will always attrack a scumbag minority element. The Venue/Security while responsible for a certain amount of bad management can not shoulder all of the blame for G*bsh!tes who cannot behave without upsetting people.

Despite these two minor setbacks i still had a feckin excellent night. thank you to all concenred (Band/Fans/Management) for making it so.

The chap has been playing for over 20 years, give him a bit of f*cking credit for Jaysus sake.

With respect Chatterbox, I don't think you mentioned that you were actually there. To my well tuned ears it was out of key. And yes he has been playing it for approx 26 years, and If I recall Mr. Chevron once told the story of how Jem and Spider would spend ages trying to get in tune, to paraphrase " up a bit, down a bit, up a bit".

On the Celtic jersey issue, I would have to agree with our Scottish friend. These guys aren't Pogues fans, and have no respect for Pogues fans. They are knackers on the piss. What I didn't mention earlier was that a fight broke out to my right between, wait for it, a group of lads in Celtic jerseys during Fairytale of all songs. Only the jerseys had been removed. This was at the extreme right hand side near the entrance to the food hall where a middle aged woman, who I spotted earlier standing solitary was no doubt waiting on that very song, only to have it ruined. Will she be back?? I wouldn't think so. I have to admit that the bouncers were very slow in clamping down.

During slow songs, (or songs they didn't recognise or know) all I could see was kids running around chasing each other, ignoring what was going on up on stage, while ordinary decent fans had to duck out of the way to avoid been clattered.

I was asked at work today what I thought of the gig. My honest reply was that it was OK, however I didn't like the crowd.

When people fell to the ground last night, I didn't see any helping hands to get them back up. I remember being in the thick of it in Brixton for two nights in 2001 (when I was young and able). I went under so many times I thought I was going to sufficate, however an arm or a hand would always come to the rescue. I'm afraid the modern day new generation Pogues fan couldn't give a toss. Maybe/hopefuly it's a Dublin/Ireland thing. Should I label all Celtic wearing fans? Probably not, however I certainly don't think I would, or could, enjoy their company given their state last night.

Therein lies the problem for us oldies who may now just want to enjoy the show without getting shitfaced and torn to shreads. The first generation Pogues fan (I caught the tail end first time around) is now at best mid thirties, but realisticaly in their forties. Being spat on and shat on by a crown of young thugs isn't exactly the way you want to spend a night out listening to your favourite band.

On a lighter note, I just recalled Shanes impression of James Blunt last night. Funny as hell. Hope someone caught it for YouTube.

I guess it must be a Dublin thing. At the grand age of 41 I spent the majority of Thursday's show at Brixton down the front with a couple of friends well into their 40's and the crowd was fantastic as usual. I fell down a few times and was quickly pulled up by fellow fans with huge smiles. The only downer being I lost my phone !.
I just realised yesterday that was my 50th Pogues gig, first saw them in ' 85 , taken in many venues north and south over the years and the crowds have always had a strong sense of camerardie so much more that many other gigs I've been to. To be honest apart from the average age increasing the scrum down the front is no better or worse than all those years ago.
Here's to another 50 :P
I never approve, or disapprove, of anything now. We are not sent into the world to air our moral prejudices.

I was there. It sounded grand to me, although knowing the RDS, I must concede it could completely depend on where you were standng at the time. AFAIK that was not a "tunable" whistle so to speak. You'll find its in the key of D, end of. It would take A LOT of abuse to make it otherwise.

Fortunately, despite this little disagreement I agree with absolutly everything else you said in that last post. A very honest assesment of the night. I also thought the crowd was dreadful and very agressive. There was a lot of disrespect for Urban Voodoo Machine, who were actually quite good and very energetic. Not to mention the reception Ella got, or didn't get to be more accurate. All in all, great show, ruined a bit by the crowd.

I think I'll go to Brixton next year instead.
I love it when a plan comes together.
