Thank you Alex for posting 'V' on you tube. One of our daughters is home for the summer and her boyfriend was there! He went especially to see the Pogues and our daughter thought she saw him near the front singing along to DOT! All the band great, especially Shane and Spider - super whistle playing!
May the angels bright watch you tonight and keep you while you sleep

I was lucky enough to see The Pogues at V last night. Haven't been able to post on here for a while but thought I'd drop in and say hi! I thought they were great last night. Despite Philip not being there Terry was on fine form and James must have had 20 Red Bulls before he went on stage! Shane was also in fine form. I was a bit worried when the band seemed a bit unsure of his whereabouts when they came on stage and started with Repeal. The set list that followed was something like
Repeal, Streams of Whiskey, IISFFGWG, Broad Majestic Shannon, Tuesday Morning, Pair of Brown Eyes, Sick Bed, Rainy Night in Soho, Sunnyside of the Street, Bottle Of Smoke, Irish Rover, Sally Maclennane, Dirty Old Town, Fiesta,
thats not the correct order but I think Ive got them all

Also, is there a video of it?

Thanks

A fan's review (by Livvi, Full URL):
Having Irish roots means that to me The Pogues are more than just a band, it’s a soundtrack to my childhood. Fairytale of New York is more of a tradition in my family than burnt turkey and family squabbles. With this in mind, The Pogues were a definite visit in my weekend of musical mayhem. As the rowdy Jamie T crowd deserted I riverdanced my way to the front and planted myself firmly against the barrier. I wasn’t disappointed.

The band came out and immediately the crowd enjoyed a proper irish jig as we waited for Shane to stumble on, arm in a sling and a large vat of some liquid, presumably ridiculous alcoholic. Highlights were Sally Maclennane, Sickbed of Cuchulainn and Dirty Old Town. Shane MacGowan which should rhyme with “mine’s a double” but doesn’t, had the velvety vocal chords that transported the crowd to a dirty old spit and sawdust pub in the mythical heart of Kilkenny. We loved every minute. Pogue Mahone, the original band name means ‘kiss my arse’, and their arses we did kiss. Not literally, that would be weird , and at a festival would probably frowned upon.
