We made it back to South Dakota so I thought I would post a few memories from last nights show.
CdnSteve, his wife and DzM were in the balcony chatting when we arrived. The bands intro included a little more of Magnificent Seven before STH kicked in last night. We sat in the 2nd row of the mezzanine and I thought the sound was much better then front row on the floor the previous night. If anything it seemed that Shane's vocal level was a bit high. His screams were blood curdling. I loved the view from up there as you could watch the band as a whole performing their magic. Our girls seemed to enjoy the show more then the previous night and stood and clapped along for a good portion of the night. I guess they just needed to get their first Pogues show out of the way before the addiction kicked in (just like daddy). Before the show I bought a few t-shirts and had to break down and have a Guinness as I figured I could still be a responsible parent with only one beer. The memories of these last 2 shows are better etched in my brain then the previous Guinness soaked ones as well. I never get over how fast Terry's hands move during the end of Turkish Song of the Damned and several times during the show Philip's right hand was a blur from our vantage point. I did tear up during Broad Majestic Shannon and Rainy Night in Soho. I actually got goosebumps during BMS, Kitty and 1000's. When the boys went into Sunny Side Of The Street everyone in the balcony must have moved at this same time as there was a noticeable sway and I was momentarily distracted from the show thinking about the age of the venue and how safe my kids were at that particular moment. I thought it strange that the balcony never swayed the rest of the night. Someone behind us kept yelling for Rainy Night after every song, as he explained it was the first song of his wedding dance, until we convinced him that it would indeed be the 2nd song of the first encore. CdnSteve and his wife sat with us midway through the show and the girls enjoyed his enthusiasm (I had to keep telling them he was just one of those Crazy Canadians). My wife snuggled in during Rainy Night in Soho and this time Jamaica was not allowed to force her way between us. We did join the girls hands for a group sway midway though as they were feeling left out. Especially Jamaica who crossed her arms and sat down with a frown her her face. As everyone else said, watching Philip in his snazzy silver suit sing 1000's was the best, almost surreal. I fell asleep last night with that song in my head (I guess that should have been posted on another thread). All in all another great Pogues adventure. Thanks for the memories until our next show...
And I don't want no grave
Just throw my ashes in the field
And hope there's some soul left to save
