I was there and I loved every second of it. Best Pogues gig I've seen.

This year went to Nottingham and then last night at Brixton. Nottingham was great, better than last year, but Brixton out of this world brilliant.

Never before seen Shane on such form. Would love to be going again tonight.

Brxiton 18th - Best Pogues Show Ever!!!

It was the best Pogues show I've seen in 20 odd years. The review at the top of this thread is just bollocks. The band were at the top of their game last night. Shane, looking cooler than ever in his full length leather coat and shades, sang like an angel and a demon possesed in equal measure.

Great atmosphere down the front this year too. Perhaps that's where the reviewer above should have been rather than tucked up safely in the balcony with his camera phone

Some great additions to the set too - Summer in Siam, Greenland Whale Fisheries, Transmetropolitan.

Awesome - Happy Christmas (yer arse!)

If I remember correctly I think this was one of the two songs where he read from a lyric sheet, the other being Thousands Are Sailing.

Thanks for the links MacRua. My sister was there and I'm still waiting to hear from her. I was supposed to be transported there using our combined power of extreme yearning but it didn't happen!!

Yeah, Shane looked amazing. What a gorgeous leather coat he had on. 8)

During the show, did I hear something about it being Darryl's daughter's and Spider's wife's birthdays? (Something like-- Spider: "It's my wife Louise's 18th birthday... no, her 24th... no...anyway, it's her birthday.")

And I think the word Shane substituted for "danced" in Thousands might have been "puked"...?

After a few songs, Shane mumbled, "Shgot an gho minda..." Which surely must have been Gaelic for "I'm going for a piss," He spoke a lot of the Gaelic last night...Dacent concert, despite Shane being three sheets to the wind. Sad when he needs song-sheets, but how do they KNOW which songs he won't remember?? (Is it part of the act?) Aye, sometimes you could hear his gums chasing each other but he put on a good show and I was up for the standing ovation with the rest of them. "Shgot an gho minda..."

It is only new songs (or new to Shane) in the setlist for which he requires a lyric sheet. i.e: Transmetropolitan and Thousands Are Sailing.
