Well, look on the bright side. At least you didn't have any heavy luggage to drag up and down the stairs with you. :)

Good point. :?

That's what the concierge said as well - when he was not trying to cheer me up with new assumptions where my luggage might have landed ( like Kabul, Baghdad, Shanghai, Pyongyang )

Me too, although my fever was nowhere near as high as yours

So I took a lot of medicine the next day and dragged myself to the Brixton gig anyway.

Ah, you foreigners just cannot hack a mild autumn evening in good old Manchester!!
What you should have done was come a little earlier and got yourself acclimatised by spending some time in dear old Oldham - it's always a good bit colder up here than Manchester, even though we are only seven miles away!

Joking aside, it was bloody cold on Saturday night as we found walking to the venue coatless

Word of warning for Philip here - if you are coming to watch Forest at Oldham on Boxing Day wrap up well mate, it's not considered the coldest ground in the country for nothing, and hope it's not another 5-0 drubbing!

What always surprised me during these last three winterly trips to Manchester was large number of guys in T-Shirts and women in mini-skirts.

It's de rigeur in Northern towns from Nottingham upwards. It's to show they're not big Southern softies. By Newcastle they're practically naked in winter.

I have a New York friend who finds it more absorbing than anything Manhattan has to offer and has been known to sit on a bench in Market Square (Nottingham) for hours on a Saturday night, casting disbelieving looks (and the occasional guffaw at a particularly unflattering "look") as the parade passes by.

I seemed to think it was a football thingy, but on saturday I walked round Manchester in just a tee-shirt. I assume testosterone and masculine pride kept me warm. Glad I did, hotter than the sun in the G-Mex.

Erm, I think I may have been responsible for this.

Remember I had it a few days before I met you guys?

Sorry.
