That was fantastic! The best gig I've ever been to. That said, it was my first Pogues gig, so I suppose that makes sense.

I saw Shane just once before and he was great, but nothing like as good as that. Like others have said I was surprised at how lucid and sharp he was.

It seems a bit of a shame to go on about Shane though as the entire performance was great. I was very close to Jem for the short while I wasn't being thrown about  and it was great to see him play. Transmetropolitan was a highlight for me, as was Sally Maclennane.

Anyway, it was so good I had to sign up here and say that.

Oh, and I should probably mentioned that little welsh girl I met, she was a highlight too

Wish I'd stayed now, but wasn't going to pay over the odds for a second bottle of Grolsch. As I told you I don't get on with lager, so it wouldn't have been wise anyway.

We didn't get a lot of photos this year, only one of me and Eckhard and the one of me, you and Spider, will send it in sometime if that's OK with you.

Yeah, go for it re the picture.

As i say we managed a word with most people in one way or the other by the end of the night; Billy Bragg was a sound bloke as was Phil's stand in James who did his best to explain what it was like to play with your musical idols!

Mark....after our various e-mails back n forth on Friday, alas we never did meet! We had a bit of a problem in gaining a wrist band (Mr C knows about it). Basically we didn't know we needed one and by the time we went to get it we got fobbed off by a jobs worth memeber of security. The security at the VIP bar were none to helpful either, saying they didn't know where we had to go for a wrist band....
Suffice to say we didn't get to say hi to any fellow Medusans!

We did the Rain Bar but headed over to get in the G Mex in time for Billy Bragg (who was fantastic) so apologies mate.

Maybe next year....

BTW all though my Brother and I were disappointed with this aspect of the night.....we thought the venue was excellent, great sound, great bands...it was just wank security!

Cheers
The dirty delightful old drunken old days....

No comments on the new stage set?? Veteran fans will know it's a revival of an earlier stage set from 1987/1988. The train could never be seen on that, although it was always there. Thanks to a bit of a Spinal Tap moment when the design left Andrew Ranken's hands, the train spent its first career curled up on the floor under his drumkit.

Top night. Was my 4th (or 5th!?) year running. Apparently better than last year, although don't really remember that due to a fuzz of ale.

Missed The Holloways, which I'm gutted about, as thought it was doors at 7pm, not starting at 7, and we had driven round in circles for ages trying to park, so was half sober on entry.

Thanks to little Eimear the floozy who kept feeding me vodka to keep me bouncing (in between snogging any bloke who walked past).....

I liked the imagery of the stage. I wanted to buy one of the posters which re-produces the backdrop but they were not supplied in any tube, so the time I got it home - to Leeds - it would of been crushed beyond recognition. Any "second chance" to get a copy from the web somewhere do you know?

Hopefully, there will be a link to the new merchandise very soon. Unfortunately, it may only be to the T-Shirts etc at the moment (I like the rather fetching one of the behatted guitarist in Day Of The Dead style) but no doubt there will be an enquiries option too.
