Amazing show last night. Shane was the most on form I've ever seen him since I started going to the Christmas shows in 2004. The Gmex was so much better than the MEN! Got in, got a drink, got a decent view and even managed to visit the toilets without too much hassle. I thought the sound was better too. The band were great as usual and Shane surpassed my expectations by a mile. Cheers to the guys for a good night.

It was Westlife.
Some girls at the hotel had gone to see them. I went on a huge rant about them. I may have got a little to aggressive about my particualr bug bears. I seem to recall shouting "corporate whores" a lot. I also described listening to them like listening to cancer. Again in a sober state I would appologise unreservadly for my behaviour and language, not my sentiment though!!

Oh, and does anyone have a complete setlist??

He did indeed, thanks for asking. We missed the support due to having a couple of pints in a nearby bar but still got a very good view. He didn't mind standing, and prefered it to the MEN as well!

My girlfriend was also very impressed and now likes the Pogues, and my friend who isn't into the Pogues or similar at all was bouncing up and down! We had to leave during Fiesta to catch the train but we did it in style in a kind of bouncy conga line through the crowd wth my dad in tow! Great stuff.

It was definitely Take That at the MEN, my sister went. But hell, not much difference, just one of the group of lads are from Ireland.

Oh sorry my bad, those girls said Westlife I am sure of it. If they are not clever enough to tell the difference then I can understand them going in the first place. Sorry.

This was probably the best Shane I have ever seen. Just a few fucked up lyrics but otherwise close to perfection. His voice was excellent and he was all there and not just physically there, if you know what I mean.

My respect to those in charge of preparing him.

I thoroughly missed Phil of course. I had hoped for a surprise, but..

I think that the young guitar player did a good job though. It's a hard job I guess to be the replacement for someone who is so well-loved by the fans - knowing that everyone in the audience is waiting for someone else.
But he really did a great job.

Thanks to Heather and her partner, Mark and his mate and strummercalling for a nice evening. Finally managed to see each other directly.

The Gmex, well, I know that everyone loved it, but I felt like being in a gigantic hangar. The sound was good though.

My luggage has not yet been found. In it was the "Lend met ten pounds"-shirt I bought at last year's gig :(

Could someone post a setlist? A friend was going to the gig but couldn't make it unexpectedly...

The concert at G-Mex was my first Pogues' gig and I came from Italy with my girlfriend to see it. I was impressed!!! What a concert!!!

I've only a little request. Can you tell me, please, where I can find an audio registration of this gig?

Regards.

soulfinger wrote:Top performance tonight from the boys. Greenland Whalefisheries and Transmetropolitan made welcome appearances. The venue was way better than the MEN. All standing crowd was much better. Shane made a cock of the odd song, did a major Eric Morecambe on Tousands of Sailors- all the right words but not necessarily in the right order. Sadly no Ned or Dog.
All in all a cracking night. :D

I love the laminated lyrics Shane has for Thousands and Transmetropolitan! Hardly hides them tho does he?
