Newcastle - 12 Dec 2007

Post Wed Dec 12, 2007 11:57 pm

Started with Transmetropolitan. Can't remember full list yet but Dark streets, Greenland and Bottle of smoke were belters. Shane was on top form, best I've seen him since 2001. Having a bit banter about not been able to smoke. Ella did FONY and Repeal had the crowd really bouncing. Looking forward to saturday night now. Don't think our lass is though 'cos someone puked on her arm  He did say sorry

Hi,

Shane had a shaky start in the first couple of songs (Transmetro and If I should). He then seemed to get in the swing of it and was superb - probably the best I have seen him since about 1990. He also looked a bit fitter, was enjoying himself and you could even understand some things he said between songs. He did forget the lyrics to 1000's though and had Daryl and co digging through piles of papers on the floor while the band played a 'new' instrumental section until they were found. They then gave shane a few seconds to read them while they all tried to stop laughing and it carried on to a successful conclusion. The only other slight prob was in fiesta it got a little confused but they rapidly also pulled that together again. Some of the set info is:-

Included

Summer in Siam
Transmetro
Soyanara
Greenland Whale Fisheries
Dark Streets
Star of the County Down
Boys from the County Hell

No

Irish Rover
White City
Boat Train
Battle March
Poor Paddy

All together a superb gig which the band looked to enjoy. I took a few videos with the digital camera and if they are any good when I get a look tomorrow I will stick then on You Tube

Regards,
Jim

Jim, I think at the same time they were fumbling, James also unplugged Daryl as well which is why they were laughing with each other. Great gig though. I've never heard Boat Train, live. Would love to hear that

No Tuesday Morning or Young Ned? They´ve been in the set since the first re-union shows. This would mean that Shane´s on stage almost all the time
