very dutch... and very hard for me to make it to the city at 8 so I am glad to hear there is an opening band... will be there at 9 with my friend Jerry Hannan... buy us beers!

You should move Heaven and Hell to get there by 8:00. William Elliott Whitmore is a fantastic one-man performer of Mississippi blues/alt. country. You should see him every chance you get, and you should buy any/all merchandise he has there.

When you get a chance to put up your Pogues pictures (after fires, hangover, day job and stuff) it would be great to see some nice ones of WEW as well.

James on "Sayonara"

Post Wed Oct 24, 2007 11:44 pm

Did anyone else notice that the new guitarist James was singing "Her eyes were blue/her hair was black" instead of "Her eyes were green" during Sayonara? I saw him and Darryl at Zeki's after the show, but I didn't want to call him out on it.

Thank you kindly, on behalf of Will. I surely do wish I could join you all!

Christine, there are some good pictures on Will's MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/whitmorewilliamelliott . Scroll down to Friends' Comments and there are several posted on October 19th. I don't know who joe bob is, but I like his photos.

Looks like Joe Bob is cheating and using a remotely fired flash with a long(ish) shutter speed (this makes the swirls and streaks of light with a nice crisp WEW in the middle).

I'm all jealous. I can't bring myself to use a flash at shows. It seems so intrusive to the artist the rest of the audience, but when done right it makes a really nice effect (see these photos by way of example).

Good work Joe Bob!

Maybe he was thinking of someone special and just changed the lyrics for himself.

The Fillmore shows have come and gone.

I'd like to toss out a few Thanks just 'cause I can:

Thanks to The Pogues for four amazing nights. It's been said before, and I say it again: You guys put on a fantastic show filled with energy, romance, humor and more. It's a magical thing to watch you up there, and to watch the crowd too. All that I missed was Philip's natural flair for engaging directly with the audience; the snazzy suits, the intricate hand-dances, the leading in clapping during Repeal of the Licensing Laws. Next time ... next time.

Thanks to Ross for making very cool things happen. You're fantastic sir. Thanks also to a Man Of Mystery for getting the ball rolling. You're also fantastic, AND you know who you are. Thanks to you too!

Thanks to the staff of the Fillmore for being professionals (and generally doing it without being jerks). Particularly thanks to the floor security and front-of-house security for being agreeable, engaging, and helpful. You guys were great too.

A shout to the various Medusonians that I met - CPoguesFan, Clash Cadillac, Frame, and the many people who said "Hey, you're that guy that does the web page, right? I'm a long time reader and love the place." You all make me blush. Thank you!

Next up for the band: San Diego (Hell's Ditch indeed right now).

Next up for me: Anaheim. See more of you there.

Photos of the Fillmore shows (including the opening acts, White Rabbits, Filthy Thieving Bastards, and William Elliott Whitmore) coming soon. I hope.

Wed night show

Post Thu Oct 25, 2007 8:56 pm

To all, I saw the set lists posted from the Sun & Mon shows.... anyone have Wednesday's (24oct) list? I think it differed a bit from the previous Fillmore ones.

To DzM, My fiance Charlene & I met you and your buddy Norman(?) up in the balcony at the Wed night show (my first Pogues show in about 10-12 years). Cool site you have here. Did you ever find out the not-Wendy-O-Williams artist you guys were trying to think of?

Thanks,
-PM

I have a photo of it somewhere. I'm pretty sure it's the same as the Monday and Tuesday shows. We'll find out before too long (will take me a few days to work forward).

Yeah, it was a pleasure to meet you both. Thanks for making room at the table for Norman.

And you know what - I'd completely forgot that conversation. :) But now that you've reminded me, ten seconds of Teh Intarwebs tells me that the person I was trying to think of was Laurie Anderson. The album cover I was trying to describe was Big Science. w00t!
