White russian is indeed both. And we´ll know what this drink will cause by looking at The Dude in "The Big Lebowsky".

Some thugs piss onto your carpet and some german nihilists will throw a ferret into your bathtub while you´re in. :D

Thanks for your answer, I'll clarify myself: Here in Bilbao it's very common that the Town Hall signs with an international band for the first day of the Fiestas. Then, this bands cancels the show for unknown reasons so the Town Hall hires a new band paying a huge extra because of being a contract signed in the last minute.

This happened this year with Chayanne, after his cancellation The Pogues were contracted and acording to a newspaper getting an extra fee. Of course I suppose you deserve that extra because of being called in the last minute, it's just a pity that just like EVERY year "we" payed more than if they had called you some months ago. The same has happened in previous years with The Prodigy, Linkin Park, Primal Scream...

Anyway, thanks for the show the other night! Finally my friends knew who The Pogues were :) and I saw the band I was listening to a lot of years ago when I was a child and I spent my summers in Almeria (really! ;), while my family where listening to The Pogues in the radio-casette :)

Fiestaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! :-D

why should the Pogues ask for more money just because it is at the last minute...they have fixed standard festival fees...like most bands do...
i think that what your council paid is what every body must pay when they book the Pogues....wether a band can play last minute or not, of course depends on the money being right...but mainly depends on everybody in the band being available...

if you think that kind of money is too much...that is ok...but that is something the citizens of Bilbao should discuss with the council directly...and not with the band...

a lot of people obviously think they are worth it

I think the expression is: "I had a whale of a time", but the way you put it sounds more fun!

«que vienen los poguesssssss, yo tb estuve en el azkena rock y me fui a la mitad de bad religion para pillar sitio».

It means: «The Pogues are comiiiiiiiiiing, I also was at the Azkena Rock and I left the gig of Bad Religion at the half time in order to take a place (at the auditorium where the Pogues were just about to play)».

"Last Saturday I had a little talk with Shane, I gave him the T-shirt of the Russian Army so that he sang wearing it, he said thanks to Pixi for the T-shirt (at the beginning of the concert). If you find any photos of that day (please send them to me) PS That's the second time that I meet him personally and he escapes without taking a photo with me".

More or less, I guess that's what Pixi tried to say. All between brackets are notes by myself, not by Pixi, in order to try to clarify what he tries to say.

That's right (I refer to what I have quoted in bold letters). I think the contracts should be made in such a way that artists would previously leave a deposit, so that they would lose it if finally they decided not to play.

The Pogues in Bilbao

Post Mon Oct 01, 2007 9:30 am

Brilliant!!

The Pogues' music has been in the BSO of my life since I was 15. Now I am 34 and it was the 1st time i had the chance of being in a concert by The Pogues. I couldn't lose it. I went with my friends to watch the football match in San Mames, and after it to the concert. Good beginnig with the first band, and plenty of emotions when the Pogues got in the stage.
The voice of Shane is unique in the world. The only problem was the alcohol. But in any case, the band showed that they know very well Shane. It didn't matter if Shane sang faster or slower than the music, or if he sang different verses or chorus instead of what was the "official" version. All the players were ready for waiting the singer's entries in the musical phrases.

Not only play, they achieved to connect with us. It was a great party with brilliant musical moments. I'm sorry of not identifying names with faces or musical instruments, but what a accordion player. It's the best "living" accordion that I've ever seen. I mean, the accordion was alive, and I've seen a lot of accordion players, I promise you. And what about the whistle, in every moment of the night.

I'm sorry because whith my english level I cannot explain what i feel about that night. The only thing i don't understand is why Shane didn't appear in the big screen near the stage.

See you soon!!
