Cheers Mr.C.

It was brilliant as always, and even more so this year as I didn't get ripped off by those wily Nigerians.

Thank you.

Yes, "Greenland Whale Fisheries" was a great new addition.

It’s probably to be expected on St. Patrick’s Day, but the crowd was really rough.
It was a night of beer spilling like waterfalls onto my head, with a guy next to me bent on squeezing all the oxygen out of my lungs, and a drunk in a Santa suit, of all things (on St. Paddy's day??), starting fights and getting thrown out by Security.

Needless to say, I wasn’t able to pay as much attention to the show as I wanted to (and I desperately wanted to), since I was forced to punch the man who was crushing me and meanwhile try to avoid Santa Claus. But as far as I could tell, the performance was spot-on once again!

There’s something I’ve been wondering since Thursday; perhaps someone can help explain this to me. Did I dreadfully mishear him or did Spider say “Terry Woods was baked in a kiln”??

Can't help you with what Spider said, but you were probably right by me in the pit the whole time. I was the guy in the green "Irish National Baseball Team" hat and smiling from ear to ear the whole time. I pulled santa away from 2 fights and told him to go to the other side of the pit or he would probably get kicked out. Didn't see him again after that.

I wouldn't say the crowd was any rougher than expected, but there were a few meatheads. It IS New York...

All in all, an excellent show. But the bar running out of Guinness was unacceptable. Although I heard that the downstairs bar had it all night...

Thanks to the Pogues for another "best show ever"!

I've been to all the NY shows over the last 2 years, and am usually down front, and I thought that last night's crowd was the roughest of them all. I don't mind getting hit or shoved (in fact, I can't image a Pogues show without it), but there seemed to be more folks just taking random shots at people, and a whole lot of shoving - not sure, but that's the impression I got. I'm fairly big, and I got absolutely crushed several times.

That being said, it is the Pogues on St. Paddy's day - thanks again, guys. Hope we see you soon.

Last year's Paddy's Day crowd was why my friend and I stayed on the right hand side all night. I was able to catch much more of the show that way. Like Spider saying exactly what you thought he said.
I like this bad set and I like getting drunk at luncheon.

Yeah, the real Terry quit in 1989, and moved to Paris to run a cafe. So since then they used a clay statue with a tape player inside. Now Spider will get beaten by the other Pogues for letting slip their terrible secret.

If you play "The Gartloney Rats" (on Peace And Love backwards the whole saga is revealed. And just what do you think Kathy MacMillan is typing at the beginning of "Down All The Days" on the same album?? Well, I don't exactly know (it looked a bit like gggghhhhqwerrtqwertyqwertyhhhhhtt66666%%%% to me) but I've been told she typed "The Walrus was Terry" over and over again.

St Paddy's show

Post Sun Mar 18, 2007 11:54 pm

I thought the St Paddy's day show in NYC was great. I came up from North Carolina to see it.

It seems that the bandmembers really had their heart in it and they sounded excellent.

Victoria Clarke was in the audience. She was sitting at one of the tables that was up on that stage/platform thingy that was off to the right of the main stage (to your right when you are facing the stage)
