"Star Of The County Down" is back in the show, now that Andrew's voice is back in harness. We're resting "Fairytale" on this tour, as Ella has exams coming up.

Awesome show last night! The band sounded great and Shane appeared to be in good shape.

Two comments though, who picks the opening acts? No offense, but Girl in a Coma or whatever their name was did not belong on that stage. Total amateur hour. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate anyone that can get on a stage a perform in front of thousands and applaud their effort but they are not ready for prime time.

Secondly, the merchandise table was a mess with no T-shirts ready for sale until almost 3/4 the way through the show.

Regardless, the wife and I had a great time. We drank a lot, danced a lot, and sang a lot.

A question for Phil or anyone else in the know. What was it that Spider, and later Shane, were banging on their foreheads during Fiesta? Was it some type of cooking sheet pan? What kind of bruises are they sporting today. :D

This was my first Pogues show so I was a little amazed at how hard Spider was slamming that onto his head.

Traditionally it would be a beer tray. Though Mr C may be able to tell you exactly what they were using this time.

Welcome to Medusa, montag66. Glad you enjoyed the show. Trying oh so hard not to be jealous. :)
Likes the warm feeling but is tired of all the dehydration.

Beer tray, ouch. :D

Also, Spider's leg must be completely bruised as he slams the hell out of it with his whistle when he's not playing!

It is, at least theoretically, a cheap metal beertray but its exact form tends to vary enormously from gig to gig. Spider once had to politely decline a solid silver tray provided by the promoter.

Yes. "Kitty", "Poor Paddy" and "Old Triangle" have all survived into this tour.

And welcome aboard Montag66.

Nice meeting you last night Phil, and a fantastic set! Estatic to hear The Auld Triangle - was that impromptu? Seemed like Shane responded to a request from the front and the band weren't quite expecting it. Brilliant!

Other than the above mentioned tunes, the song list was very similar to last spring. County hell, Kitty, Sunny Side, Sayonara, Thousands, Ned, Streams, IISFFGWG, Bottle of Smoke, Turkish, Lullaby, Sick Bed, Sally, Brown Eyes, Body of an American, Rover, Poor Paddy, Soho, repeal, Tuesday Morning, Misty Morning... What am I forgetting?

I had some reservations about the venue after a bad experience there a few years ago, but was quite pleased to see the problems I had experienced before had been rectified. No problem getting a drink, no brutal lines, not over crowded...

Very much looking forward to tonight!
