2004 Reunion - Brixton 20/12/2004, Accordion player

Post Tue Dec 21, 2004 7:33 pm

I just wanted to say how great the Pogues were last night at Bixton! I'm only 16, me and my friend probably lowered the average age by loads but we enjoyed it just as much as the drunken 40 year olds. The atmosphere was brilliant especially towards the end when, ignoring the 'No standing' sign, everyone in the circle were standing and dancing. We had a great view from the circle, laughed a lot at all the drunken people below us and wished we had got tickets for downstairs (although I'll have to grow more muscles before I'd be able to hold one of the guys croud surfing down there :D !!)
Who was playing the accordion?? Whoever it was they were amazing, I think I'd struggle to lift one let alone move around with such energy like he was! I loved his jump from the drum stage towards the end!

Thanks.

That would be the one, the only, James "The Maestro" Fearnley.

Ah.

They all left actually. The band broke up.

This small reunion tour is a short set of shows featuring the line-up that produced If I Should Fall From Grace With God, Peace & Love, and Hell's Ditch (and featuring special appearances by Cait O'Riorden, their original bass player). As one member put it, "This does not mean that we are back in business."

But Shane did mention in an interview that he wouldn't mind recording a couple of songs with the boys again. ;)
Hehe.. to get real.
The reissue releases of the first two album feels like new release to me. What a great sound! and so many tracks. aArr. :)

And James Fearnley is a bloody fine accordion player, performer and crowd pleaser.

Mr Fearnley is indeed extremely amusing to watch onstage, bouncing and jumping like a madman. And he made a "snow" angel during Fairytale :)
