Dear Mr. Chevron,

That was, without doubt, the best, best gig I have ever been at. I loved every single second of it, from the first strains of Trouble Pilgrim to the last note of Fiesta. What a night :D :D :D

The Radiators were in top form and for me Hinterland, Huguenot and Television Screen, which was superb, were the highlights but every note of every song was on fire.

The Pogues, and Shane in particular, were in excellent form. As has been siad before, to hear Kitty live was a real treat. Again, every song was spot on but for me Kitty, Rainy night and of Course Fairytale were the hightlights. But the real belter was Thousands which was unreal.

To play 2 gigs in the one night is good going. To play 2 superb gigs boarders on the superhuman. You are indeed a Legend and I thank you sincerly for all you do for all of us.

Thanks,

Bud.

Many thanks Bud. My tour cold, held in abeyance (thanks to Solpadeine, early nights and B12 injections) finally broke into fever about half way through the Pogues set. I made a manful last ditch to summon my energy reserves for "Thousands" and then gave up the ghost. By the time Spider was playing his feedback guitar on "Fiesta" I was already in a fast car back to the hotel. As Shane said about Falling From Grace, "don't try this at home".

I'm no Beck fan, but I think this would be an absolutely fantastic album title for him.

Who's with me on this?

DZM should know better than to post a response before I have, customarily, spent at least ten minutes revising mine. That said, Fast Car Beck sounds more like a Tom Waits song to me.

That's why you have to jump on the typos the moment you see them. They're shy in your writing and must be preserved quickly. :)

Oh God, my tinnitus is worse than ever! Will i ever get sense? I'm not as fit as i used to be either. Had to retreat from the mosh after 20 mins.

The atmosphere was electric and that's from someone who hates The Point. A full pit! But room at the back soak it all up, breath in the smell of euphoria and exhale satisfaction.....aaaahhhhh..... They've done it!! The Pogues have turned a soulless barn into a warm intimate venue.

Lullaby of London started, I had room around me to sway gently. I closed my eyes and just let the music infuse me. Not a soul brushed against me to disturb the moment, was anyone else even there? Of couse they were but they were just absorbing it too. As the lullaby ended I lifted my head, looked at the stage and just smiled. I couldn't even clap, i didn't have to, they had consumed us and we were all one.....8000 and 8 of us, together.

It was great to meet Bud Byrne, Soulfinger, Soulfinger Junior and Johan (tired and emotional) From Sweden. I saw Fintan chatting to Bud in the jacks but i was mid flow, so sorry i missed you Fintan, but the recycled Guinness was better off down the gully than down my leg.

Thank you Pogues.

Dear Mr. Chevron,

Here, here.

The atmosphere last night was just unbelievable, like nothing I've ever seen before. I got in early enough to get into the pit (which I hadnt managed the last 2 years, not a mistake I'll make again). The Radiators were awesome , with Faithful Departed being one of the real highlights of the night for me, what a song!! One of the best. Hugenot & Television Screen were also stand outs. And Joe Strummer. 8) Thanks Philip.

When the Sraight to Hell intro came on.. Wow.. I was just blown away by it all, the reception the band got, the look on the guys face beside me, it was just fucking brilliant. And probably made all the better that I was so convinced the gig be cancelled.. Shane was on top form all night, he's really sounding and looking great these days. It'd be a shame if the new album doesn't happen. The band, obviously, were as brilliant as ever. The songs that stick out in my mind are The Auld Triangle, Thousands Are Sailing, Rainy Night In Soho, Lullaby of London, Bottle of Smoke and Fairytale.. Oh yeah and nearly getting the shit kicked out of me trying to get a hold of the beer tray after Shane tossed it into the audience.. :D I didn't get it in the end.

Anyway, a big thank you to you all for the best night of my life. Hope you all have a nice Christmas.

Cheers,
Pad.

I get so emotional watching early videos of the Pogues... it's like looking through a man's life...

On the concert, I can't imagine a better time than being in your native country listening to your native musicians perform, especially at Christmas, especially if they are The Pogues.
Does that makes sense?

Thanks a lot for the great night!!

It was the third time we came over from Belgium, and it's getting better year after year. Shane's vocals were very good last thursday, and the whole band kicked maximum ass!

Congratulations Philip for your double performance. You have pleasantly surprised me with the Radiators!

Truly a superb performance by the lads which completely blew away the other gigs I've seen this tour. One of the highlights for me was Shane going off for a little dance and a wander round the stage by himself during (I think) White City. He was truly on top form. I really enjoyed the radiators and my hat goes off to Mr C for his amazing stamina in playing two sets. I'm of a similar age and I was knackered watching.

The crowd set up at the point is truly an odd one but, having got ourselves there early, myself and the boy were fortunate to get pit armbands and got perfect position at the back of that first section. We could see Mats and his Dad and (seperately) Niall, Johan and Georgecat back in the second section where it looked to be pretty wild too. Spider anounced that it was the best Dublin crowd there had been and I can believe it. The leaping, stamping, jigging reeling leprachauns in the pit were a sight to see. There were loads of young 'uns for whom it was their first Pogues show and they were knocked out by it.

Nice to meet all the Medusans again. Fintan's guitar playing Wild Colonial Boy in the Met for that auld fellah and accompanying Niall's mate with his Armagh song were classic moments.

Merry Xmas to all! :D :D :D
