You're grossly underestimating the band's performance, Philip! Superb and thanks to all for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. It really is difficult picking out highlights but I must say I thought Repeal of the Licensing Laws was fantastic - such fast and furious playing. Also, it was the first time I've heard the Auld Triangle live since the school play (The Quare Fellow) nearly 40 years ago! The band really made the recorded version come alive, so powerful.

The audience seemed really up for it. But you give the audience what they want and they respond. On stage for nearly 2 hours, with 25 tracks, one brilliant number after another. How many other bands do likewise?

I think the Pogues have always had a loyal and dedicated following but the profile has widened, for the better, from the young, male audience overhelmingly at the early Town & Country gigs I used to go to.

Last night was one big party singalong. So many of the audience know so many of the words to the songs. What a rousing rendition of Dirty Old Town and then everyone going ballistic with Fiesta at the end.

Thank you soooo much for one of the greatest experiences of my life! This was my first ever Pogues concert and I don´t think I have gone to a concert where the audience was this lively. Not even at a heavy metal concert! And the band. The band was just amazing. All are such brilliant musicians and Shane has such charisma. This concert was pure magic. :D

I would like to give a special cheers to the bloke in the Santa Clause costume and his nice friends and sister-in-law. They persistently made me express my joy in the forms of dancing, clapping hands and singing along. You guys were great in making a lonely dane feel welcome! (8)

And to all the rest of the audience, the DJ and the warm up band. Thx for an awesome time! :D

Another fan's review:

John Marshall wrote:The Pogues - Brixton Academy - 18/12/06
I mangaed to miss the Pogues when they did their christmas gigs last year which I was gutted about. I didn't even do anything on the nights they were playing either. I think this was probably due to money and buying christmas presents for a girl who wanted christmas presents more than she actually wanted me. So being free of all that and having more money I made pretty damn sure I attended tonight!

I made sure I missed Larrikin Love tonight. I heard them before and they sound like a cross between The Levellers and Babyshambles. A band to avoid forever I think. I got there in good time for The Pogues just as they were packing up the equipment for Larrikin Love.

After a short wait the anticipation was kicking in, How rowdy would the crowd be? How Much beer will I get covered in? How drunk will Shane be? As Streams Of Whiskey began it became apparent that it was gonna be a good lively crowd without too much bother. Not too much beer went flying in fact very little indeed. Shane was led onto the stage as usual but could stand. Infact he hardly seemed drunk at all. He was a lot more thorough with the words and even danced a bit. He was clean shaven alert and looked really good all dressed in black. Musically it was the tightest and most together Pogues gig I'd seen. It could've done with being a bit louder mind. My favourite Pogues song A Pair Of Brown Eyes sent a few shivers down me and there were quite a few setlist changes from the previous times over the last couple of years. A few songs I'm not so familiar with but we did get Kitty which sent a shiver down my spine and Repeal Of The Licencing laws which had me Jigging madly! The songs not sung by Shane sounded better than ever. Tuesday Morning is becoming a big favourite now and I need to own this song! Thousands Are Sailing is always one of the highlights and sounded ace being one of the songs of the night. Later in the set a few twats decided to stand near me. I think you had to be a cunt in order to be friends with these people. They stood with their back tot he crowd and talked during the set then bumped into everyone in an annoying way when the fast songs came in. Fuckers!! it didn't ruin it though the gig was far too good for that. Sickbed Of Cuchulainn had me Jumping madly. For the encores it was more of the better known songs. Sally MacLennane set everyone crazy. Rainy Night in Soho sent more chills down spines and Irish Rover produced more frenzies. For the second encore we were sposed to get Poor Paddy which I would love to hear again, But Shane even thought more sober than ever before sang Auld Triangle after the intro to poor Paddy was played, so the band played along to Auld Triangle. Of course this is another excellent song and one of the moments of the set. This was followed by Fairytale Of New York. One of the greatest ever christmas songs and one I never get sick of hearing. Infact this is the first time I've felt chrismassy this year. Some girl came on to sing it with him. I can't remember who but she had a beautiful pwoerful voice. Shane danced with her at the end of the song and it was just brilliant! More frenzied dancing came for set ender Fiesta! that songs just fills me with utter joy.

Thanks guys for an absolutely awesome show. We travelled all the way from Holland to finally see you guys, and it was worth every bloody penny of it. Don't know if you have any plans of continuing doing these kinds op reunion shows, but if you are, remember that in the Netherlands you could easily sell out a couple of shows!

Looks like the 19th was as good if not better than the 18th, judging by these great videos:

Nice touch with the hug between Ella and Jem at the end of FONY.

I can only echo the above comments. Tuesday was absolutely amazing; a fantastic night. The band were on top form.

By the way, please don't blame me for being new here, but does anyone have any pictures of Monday's show, or knows where to find them? Would be great.

I think it's fair to say that, while you might get goodnatured flak for any number of things, being new is unlikely to be one of them. Welcome.

It had an even greater resonance in Dublin, as the Point is in approximately the same district as Mountjoy Prison.
