@Zuzanna: thanks for the link! Great pics indeed, and it looks like it might've been the fella standing next to me that took those pics. Cool :)

Red Roses for Pogues

Post Tue Jan 04, 2005 6:41 am

Just brilliant. I also flew in from the States for the Brixton Dec. 22nd show, and would have circled the world many times for that experience.

I saw the full line-up half my life ago; was my first concert, and has been the best one, but only until Dec 22nd. In between, I diverged into literally any musical style, but nothing even comes close to the emotional, fulfilling intensity, this Peace and Love feeling of transmitted happiness I was somehow lacking since the first show 15 years ago...

Would I have expected to ever be crying out of happiness while whipping amongst thousands of sweaty booties? Would I have thought I can scream my lungs out while producing a lump in my throat? Thousands are Sailing and Fairytale did it...not to speak of each single other song of that most brilliant set. I am now overcome by that strange feeling of "missing these two hours", as a time where I was living a level or two further up by all accounts, elated with a smile, and that feeling seemed to have streamed throughout each single soul in the venue.
I sensed that all of the boys from the county hell and Cait, the star of the county New York felt that connection too and will hopefully share it with us in the future......

A last cheesy bit:
The Pogues made me travel to Ireland and meet my wife there - times of my life.
Thank you, Pogues, for all that and our wedding song.... You hold a large share in our lives.

May Shane shine forever! From a rainy night in ..let's just call it New Soho...
And see you all next year!

Help

Post Tue Jan 04, 2005 2:52 pm

Hi all

Have never posted before - all new to me. Have read thro all the reviews and wanted to say I saw the Pogues at Newcastle (am I the only one???) They were FANTASTIC. I saw them at the City Hall (Newcastle) when I was 19 (it seems like yesterday) and since then they have remained without doubt the best band I have ever seen - and I have ssen many!!! This second time of seeing them did not let me down, they were brilliant. My question is..... you have all said Cait was singing when you saw them????? However at Newcastle they announced the singer as (Leigh?) and Spider said it was his girlfriend and told her he loved her on stage (how cute is Spider). Does anyone have any gossip on this and if it was Cait at Newcastle? Apart from anything else I have carried a crush on Spider for the past 12 years!!!! Thanks to all

A Happy and Safe New Year to you all from The Pogues

Post Wed Jan 05, 2005 2:31 am

Thanks to all who made it to the tour - it was YOUR show, we just supplied the music. You were great and so were we!

Thanks too for all your great feedback - for this Tour and for all your posts during the year.

And a very Special Thanks to Firehazard and Family for valour beyond the line of duty. I know Cait, who suffered her own motor accident a few days before the tour started, would especially want me to send her warm regards.

All the best

Without a doubt I can say it was worth it, despite all the difficulties that had to be overcome (and the car is still waiting to be fixed... ). We felt moved and privileged to be able to be there, and the whole evening at Brixton was magical. Heartfelt thanks to you, Mr Philip Chevron, to Shane and Cait and all of the band for making such things possible. It's a memory that will stay with us always. Here's to the next time!

Thanks to Mr. Chevron for your kind words in this forum..

TN, I'm having the same problem. Things are back to normal after the holidays, and my mind keeps drifting back to Brixton. Still missing those two hours..

Great pics, thanks. Question: are they definitely from 21/12 at Brixton? The picture in my memory is of Cait dressed all in black that night - but it looks as if she's wearing a white shirt here. It could, of course, be my mind playing tricks...

Well, the guy who took them claims so at his website... I wasn't there, so I took his word for granted. Hopefully some eyewitnesses can help?
