Pogues NYC 18th Highlights

Post Mon Mar 20, 2006 6:08 am

Some perosnal highlights of the Pogues show on the 18th:

-Philip's guitar playing "spin o rama" during Young Ned
-Shane conducting the band during Broad Majestic Shannon
-A Pair of Brown Eyes....period
-Spider on the beer tray
-The band looking like they were all having fun
-Spider stacy: "what the fuck's a mook?"
-Shane: "and now spider stacy...the one you love more than ME"
-Shane: some joke involving Brokeback Mountain...
-Shane's beverage balancing act
-Philip and James jumping off of the drum stage during Fiesta
-Ella Finer
-The "Spew" T-shirt (got me one of those)
-Last but not least: great fucking spot to watch the show from...dead centre on the first raised rail...eye level with the band, totally unobstructed and unhindered by moshing, could see every expression

There are so many more, too many to list, Thank you so much boys...all I can say is Wow...

No joke, he's watched it 17 times in the past few days, I'm told.

He just can't quit it.

I also heard that but missed the first part. My girlfriend said I was nuts and that he said nothing like that.

Shane also told a Lenny Bruce joke, which I couldn't get completely. anyone else catch the punchline?

The set-up was actually "Daddy, Daddy, what's a pervert?"

A bit more subtle, just like our Shane... 8)

He seems a little too interested in such a intense film. Maybe those rumors are true. He is in fact a homo and Victoria is his beard.

You think? My suspicions that he is really a Jewish Gangster were certainly confirmed by his obsession with Once Upon A Time In America , so who knows?

I'd like to go on record as not engaging "Guest," whose post appears two posts above mine, in the petty argument he or she is clearly seeking.

You called it, Philip - I've seen him at the meetings. In certain circles, he's known as Shayneh Punim.

Hah! When I read upthread that Shane was doing Lenny Bruce material onstage, I wondered whether he'd stood at the edge of the stage and mused on what might happen if he were to piss on the audience.

The "Daddy, Daddy, what's a pervert?" bit pro'ly worked a lot better than would the conceptual material about peeing on the audience.
