I think we heard eeh read you the first time. Feel free to join in on a discussion, for instance in one of the threads in the General forum instead of being the first one to actually belt out BS.

Anyone else catch it when someone shouted out "GABRIELLE!!"

Shane's response (slurred and barely incomprehensible):

"That's the wrong band glarghahrh...."

Then he started singing the opening guitar chords to "Gabrielle"...

"DUH NUH NUH - NUH NUH - DUH NUH NUH - NUH NUH...."

Then a sharp blast of his wheezing laugh...

For a recording most like a live set, I recommend his limited edition EP, which was recorded in the hallway of Southern Records of London: untitled (Latitude series.) It is available from Southern in Europe.

Thanks, Esther. My big plan had been to buy a CD the last night, only to find he wasn't opening Sunday. I checked out Southern's site today and knew I wanted that "untitled" one, but couldn't see a link to purchase it, only the first CD. But I will keep trying!

That's a great story! Thanks for sharing it. These little anecdotes are what keep me coming back to the board.

Re: Mr. Chevron's Comment:

The Pogues' music (live and recorded) is inherently political so to tell one of the band members, essentially, to shut up because his politics don't taste so sweet when they're divorced from instrumental backup is ludicrous. That is, don't you think that if the Pogues were releasing new material they would be writing songs critical of contemporary politics - just as they have before? It has certainly been the case with some of Mr. Chevron's other recent work - see the update of "Television Screen" with the Radiators (Plan 9)

I should also note that there was a guy backstage after the show with "Gabrielle" tattooed on his neck.

William Elliott Whitmore

Sheva,
You are welcome! I ought to have said that Will's untitled CD can be purchased through Southern Records Europe, which has its own website: http://www.southern.net/southern/catalog/WILEW (as opposed to southern.com for the US.) A limited edition of 1000, hard to come by in the States.

That's the site I checked, Esther, but couldn't find a link to buy Latitudes.

Sheva,
Are you sure you tried southern.NET? The link in my previous post takes you to Will's catalog. Scroll down to the end to his untitled EP and there is a little red rectangle that says 'Buy!' The next screen has an 'Add to basket.' It should work. I ordered several from them, although it was some time ago.
