The Pogues' music (live and recorded) is inherently political so to tell one of the band members, essentially, to shut up because his politics don't taste so sweet when they're divorced from instrumental backup is ludicrous. That is, don't you think that if the Pogues were releasing new material they would be writing songs critical of contemporary politics - just as they have before? It has
certainly been the case with some of Mr. Chevron's other recent work - see the update of "Television Screen" with the Radiators (Plan 9)
