Good show...kind of weird start, though. There seemed to be a slight tension onstage at the beginning of the set -- Shane stormed offstage after Streams, and a few of us worried that he wouldn't be coming back. Spider also seemed miffed about something too. What was going on there?

Mixed feelings about the venue -- the area outside the theater itself had a real multiplex feel to it. Not too rock n' roll.

I'd waited my whole my whole life for last night.

Showed up around 5.30 and tried to pick up my tickets, but the list hadn't made it to the box office yet. Kicked around Times Square for a while and then went back.

Right here I have to stop and say thank you to Mr. Philip Chevron. I was happy enough to be on the guestlist, but the VIP pass was unexpected. Cheers.

Went inside, walked up to the VIP section balcony and immediately turned around and walked back down. That was no place to watch the Pogues from. Found a spot on the barricade and started playing the waiting game.

DJ Scratchy was great, and if I'm not mistaken is one Barry Myers, the former DJ for the Clash. Great dub/dancehall/gypsy.

William Elliott Whitmore was brilliant. Top-notch songs.. And that FOOT...

The Slackers are an old favorite of mine. I've seen them probably upwards of 15 times. The mix was pretty rough during their set, but they still sounded pretty good.

The Pogues. Amazing. Brilliant.

THEY PLAYED BOYS FROM THE COUNTY HELL! I was afraid it wouldn't make an appearance, but I was pleasantly surprised. My favorite Pogues song ever.

Fairytale was amazing. Ella was fantastic. I cried. Look for it in the DVD.

Shane sounded great. He did look like death warmed-over, but the magic was all there.

Went to the VIP lounge for a couple hours after the show. Met Spider, James, the Finers, Mr. Ranken.. All lovely people. Thank you. Had a chat with a couple Mancunian-Irish. Funny guys.

ANYWAY. I'll post more later.

The band sounded fantastic - frankly it was better than I imagined. Even though the lobby areas reminded me of Space Mountain at Disney circa 1979, I actually liked the hall quite a bit. Didn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. We were pretty close to the front left - 8 or 10 people deep in front of Phillip. A group of 15 year olds were a bit irritating in that they seemd to be more interested in slam dancing than enjoying the show, but they mellowed a bit. Actually good to see some utes there. Gentlemen, thanks for a great night. I only wish I was going again - and again. Peace and love.

I changed planes at Shannon en route to NYC last December and the place was absolutely SWARMING with US troops. Only 2 weeks ago, Dubya dropped in to say hi to "his" boys and gals on his way to India. This caused something of a diplomatic hiccup (heads of state do not simply just land in other territories without prior arrangement and planning) but revealed all we needed to know about Bush's view of both Shannon and of Irish Sovereignty. Ireland is also now complicit in Torture Rendition.
