Well, then the people who were there were lucky. I caught him on the 10th. It was his first night on this tour. All eyes were on him and there he sat alone on the stool, slugged back a swig of beer, introduced himself and gave the Pogues props politely and quietly, then proceeded to belt out a beautiful set. The house was packed, and people dug it.

Scenes from Province Street

Post Wed Mar 15, 2006 8:52 pm

Thousands are queueing
Again outside the Orpheum
Or for one last opportunity
To down one at the Littlest
That one there's wailing
He saw the wrong set list
Or the Globe review's jus' shit
And the journo got his tickets free
And we'll dance to the music
And we dance

--I can't wait.

Sorry for repeating post.

Trying my first post, I saw an smtp error that looked fatal (for my post). So I banged on the Enter key some more. ("Uh, what's this button do?")
Well, the post had not failed. F***ing newbie. Sorry, sorry, sorry.

'Til the show...good luck getting into the Littlest. We'll pay proper respects to Mr. Whitmore. But first, Foleys.

Mini Review 3/14

Post Wed Mar 15, 2006 10:04 pm

This was my tenth overall Pogues/Shane show, my last with this classic lineup being the Boston Opera House in 1989. It lived up to the hype and more. Just a wonderful show. One of my best concerts ever. Shane
was in (for him) great shape-certainly better than any Popes show. His
voice was powerful. Trying not to repeat what's has already been said:
some memories, comments-

Mr. Chevron's great guitar on Turkish, IISFFG (with bonus Flamenco moves)
Spider doing beer tray on Fiesta, I am not really a fan of this song, but
done live it's incredible.
Shane singing backup to Andrew Rankin on Star
No other sight in rock n' roll can compare to James Fearnley flying
around the stage with the accordian.

Screw James Parker/Boston Globe!! Has there been any other band
that can trot out three members to sing their own great songs (Woods, Chevron, Stacy)?? Who else (besides the late John Bonham) can
bang the drums as hard as Andrew Rankin?? This band is incredible
and my only hope is we don't have to wait (for me) seventeen years
between shows.

Thank *you* for putting on such an incredible show. I also caught the AC show and it was fantastic but last night it seemed like you guys had even more energy and sounded even better (or maybe that was just the rum). I'm also seeing you play three of the NYC shows and I can only imagine that they'll be even better and more fun.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'd actually begun to feel better already when I realized that the extra copy I posted was gone, I guess deleted by a moderator. I'll feel even better in 45 minutes when we hit Foley's and even better when we hit row KK. Thousands are queueing...

He plays a banjo.

And yeah, when I read his name the first time, I thought "Walt Whitman."

He's good. I saw him on the same night Eric V did -- 10 March in DC.

the 14th was my first pogues show ever and it was remarkable, I can only pray the guys keep touring in the U.S. following this tour. I feel like I've been cheated by life by being born in the 80's

My first will be the last night of the tour - I look upon this as a gift, an incredible opportunity that I never thought I'd get. I never saw them "back in the day" so I am incredibly thankful that fate has provided us with another chance.

And what an honor that Philip Chevron posts here!
