Phil -- did you write this from backstage? I just got home from the show two minutes ago and you had already posted! That's dedication. Thanks -- we appreciate it and all of your posts! My brother and I had a great time at the show, was truly amazing. Loved the flamenco during fiesta. My brother is going to be lucky enough to see you all again in NYC on the 19th and after seeing you tonight he's even more excited for a repeat performance.

thanks for an unforgettable night!

phil did ya get to pay tribute to Jimmy Johnstone or are you saving it for the 17th when he buried? I will be there on the 17th so it would be great to see a tribute then. All the best - see you in two days.

Shane dedicated "Dirty Old Town" to him as you suggested, and reminisced about him: "Jimmy drank whiskey right to the end.....I know cos I did it with him....sccssssshhhhhhhhhhh"

Philip, thanks for a special show. As you started the dedication for "Thousands" I was petrified that it would be something about my mangling of the lyrics in my signature, but you were kind enough to take it easy on me and keep it quiet. Thank you!

The show was absolutely brilliant and Shane looked like he was having the time of his life despite his "there's no business like show business..." bit towards the end.

After all this bullshit that has been devoted to Shane on previous posts, I have to say he looked great and sounded great and gave it his all. It was his best performance that I have seen in 17 years. It has to be that tight band he was on stage with! No matter, I still loathe rose wine!

Anyway, see you tonight again, from a closer vantage point, on my birthday, the ides of March!
Did the old songs taunt or cheer you, and did they still make you cry?

Thank you Philip - I think most of the people there (myself included) never knew how special you would be.

It is quite an odd experience to attend a concert of a band you've never seen and yet know all the lyrics and instrumental breaks so that your frenetic dancing matches all the light cues. At least I think I matched all the light cues. Anyway, the Pogues were brilliant last night from the "idolatrous" Terry Woods - to Andrew "I hope you've got a sturdy pair of trousers" Ranken. Sally Mac was a special highlight with Spider and Terry trading hilarious looks over the "far away" cues. James Fearnley is absolutely a hyperactive child - jumping off of stands and sliding all over the floor on his knees. And he complains about ruing suits. Spider and Mr. Chevron never do.

I know everyone will have a beautiful time tonight - I wish I was going again.

One complaint - when Will Whitmore went one it seemed like there were only 20 people in the theatre. Come on! Show a little respect this guy pours his sole out and the place was empty. Oh well.

Thanks for a wonderful night. I'll never forget it.

And another thing - I'll bet the little girls who threw up those Roseswere petrified when Shane furiously slammed slammed them down during Fiesta

Nice tango, Philip.

Ah, sigh  The perennial lot of the folkie. Especially as support act.
This lot could have God Herself with Jimi, Janis and Jimbo 'n' The Celestial Choir as a support act, and I really don't think much'd change. Except all the trashy media outlets would be there for the Bible-Belters.

Nice post of support. :)
