The crowd felt a little strange at first. I saw The Popes twice and Pogues once (all with Shane) around London a couple years ago, and the crowds there were immediately rowdy and all over the place. It wasn't until about a third through the show that the floor crowd got over the initial awe of seeing the Pogues live on stage, and they started really getting into the music. And the 'pit' that eventually formed was kept relatively gentle and friendly. Seemed like a good time was had by all!

Can't wait to do it all again tonight! :D

Thanks for the setlist and for the reports. It is just fuel for the excitement fire that is burning inside. I can't wait until next weekend in NYC. I mean I seriously don't think I can wait. I may in fact have to hit one of the Jersey shows ahead of time.

I hear there is a similar incident brewing in Venezuela having to do with kittens being held at gunpoint .... government thugs demanding Boys from the County Hell to be played in order to disturb sleep in the White House. Just thought I'd pass that on.

I'm German not Irish but I don't care. I love The Pogues. I nearly cried during Dirty Old Town. That song has always meant so much to me. I've lived in many factory towns like that. I met my wife in one. The song jsut makes me think of her as she once was, when we were young and in love, and unencumbered (although we are happily encumbered now), but any of you bloggers who have been married for a while know what I mean. God bless The Pogues. I will never forget last night's show.

Just before it, as there was a brief quiet period, I yelled out "My name is MacRua and I don't give a fuck about your rules." I was just about dead center, about 8 people back from the stage. Shane said "Shut up!" And then belted out Brown Eyes. It was pure magic. :D

Thanks for two seconds of great publicity

I suspect you will have attained legendary status by the time the tour is complete. :)

I will be shouting it during the March 19th show...you can count on it.

That is...if I am sober enough to get the phrase straight. It might turn out something like " My name is Adam and I don't give a sodding shite about your laws" but those who know will be able to decipher it I imagine.

Thank you thank you thank you to The Pogues for a beautiful show that will forever be a part of my life story.

Eric V.- THanks a bunch- I still owe you a beer- sorry I lost you in the crowd!

Wow, two encores! And when they played Fairytail of New York and the fake snow started falling on stage and into the crowd it almost brought tears to my eyes. I heard every song I would have wanted from every album- Red Roses all the way up through to Hell's Ditch and then some.

I decided to bring my father, who has always loved The Pogues' music and he gave me a hug half way through the show and thanked me- an experience we'll always remember forever. Thanks again to the band- thanks to Eric V. for hooking me up with tickets!
Cheers!
Have fun tonight!

I noticed this too. I caught Shane and the Popes a few times back in the 90s and I remember it being a lot more rowdy (beers flying through the air every other minute). Last night when the band first came out on stage and started playing it seemed liked people were indeed in awe- like "is this really happening, we have actually arrived at this moment?". LOL.

But by the second half of the show up through the 2 encores the crowd were psyched. I wish I could be there tonight- have fun!!

Glad to help you. As for the beer, next time you see a soldier in a bar/airport/etc... buy one for him/her and we're even. From talking with your dad at the show, it sounds like the entire evening was a wonderful experience -- from the time you left your house, to the time you got home. And all that coming from a guy who partied with Lou Reed in New York... how cool is that? :)
