great, great show. I'm 44 and this was more 1st Pogues gig. It won't be may last " Took a mate with me who wasn't that interested but he had a fantastic time and is now a convert. Bit of a "road to damascus" moment for him.
As a Man U fan who once got George's autograph, it was a very nice moment when Phil dedicated "Thousands" to his memory.

Same here! At 52 I think I was the oldest at Glasgow and my friend only came with me for company. By the 2nd song he craning for a better view and is also now converted! He won't need to be asked twice when I need him to escort me the next time!

view from berlin

Post Mon Dec 19, 2005 8:14 am

well, travelling from berlin to see once more the pogues - last time i saw them during the reunion tour 2001 - i must say that i would go wherever they play to see that brilliant band again and again and again ...

but, however, some points:

- the merchandising was a bit lousy, i think, the design etc, and not selling any kind of disc, cd etc. is really strange; why to go to tower records instead of after a concert?

- shane was really going better and better after dirty old town; but for my untrained ears it sounds that spider was a bit upset with him, wasn't he?

- shane#2: to be honest, comparing him with the brixton academy concert in 2001, he looked a bit knocked. don't know if he will go to perform in the US going on like this ...

anyway: great concert, great show, great band!

City

My mate Stuart Pearce was at the show tonight, fresh from his team's 4-1 rout of Birmingham City. But in the interest of balance, I dedicated Thousands Of Sailors to the memory of Georgie Boy.

That was quality, wish I was their my favourite band, dedicating one of my favourite songs, to my favourite player of all time who just happened to play for my favourite team of all time, what a moment.

As stated before in this thread , I am 44 and this was my 1st Pogues gig, but I have never cried at a concert before. I did on saturday night when Fairytale started.
However, during the night I also laughed my bollocks off, danced like an idiot and drank like several very large fish !!!
As Frankie Valli once said, "Oh, What a night..." !
