Washington, DC, March 9th, 2011

Ok, I know the show is tonight, but I figured I would get this one started. The last concert I saw was the Pogues in San Diego back in 2009 before I deployed to Iraq, so I am definitely looking forward to this. Looking at the previous set lists, I saw that Matilda was on there which they did not play last time. It is the first song I ever heard from the Pogues (on KXLU in L.A.) so seeing it live will be cool.

Just back, have to say this was easily the best of the three Baltimore/DC shows. There was a real energy from crowd from the beginning, and the band really responded. While they weren't as playful as last night, the set was far tighter. Boat Train came together much better. Standing directly in front of Terry and getting to hear every note was a definitive highlight for me. My God that man can play.

Still, boo to the masses for the tepid response both nights for Ronnie Drew at the start of DOG.

If this is really the "Parting Glass" then it was one hell of a ride. Thank you, boys.

Great show! Best of luck to the guys for the rest of the tour. Wish I was going to NY! Philip thanks for the info, again.
The show was fantastic though! Everyone sounded great. Shane was on point, just not with the microphone tricks, sometimes. Met a bunch of new friends, especially one that caught Spider's Pizza/cookie sheet at the end of Fiesta! Amd he even beat me over the head twice, with it, at my request.
Set list has not deviated from the other shows, remained the same. Hoped and Prayed that Ella may have been in DC, guess not. Thank you for the years of great music.
Here's hoping for a 2011 West Coast tour or even a 2012 tour!

My firends and I had a blast! We were up in the balcony area, right on the rail, so we had a great view of the whole show. I had seen from previous reports that Shane "forgot" a couple verses of Matilda, but it seems like he was just trying to shorten that great, but long, song. Maybe I'm just being optimistic. Otherwise, it lived up to my expectations and was just as great as the show in 2009.

There are numerous options with "Waltzing". We ourselves recorded it twice, with different number of verses in each case. The version we have been playing since last December has always been the same length. Shane sings no more or no less than has been set by prior agreement.

Yeah, I'd noticed that lately while listening to the song lately across a couple of different albums. The long version is really really long!

Thanks for a great show! Everyone seemed totally on top of their game and this was a really fantastic show. I took my wife who had never seen a live show; but as an Irishwoman I told her that this has to be on her "bucket list" and if A Parting Glass is really an adieu to the USA, then it was a fantastic way to go out.

Philip, I was figuring it sounded closest to the version on the remastered "Red Roses for Me". In the end, as I mentioned in the first post,it was awesome to hear even one verse of that song because it was the first song I ever heard from you guys back in the 80s. Thanks again for a great night. I am currently wearing my t shirt under my Marine Corps service uniform.

thanks to the band- the show was great and for a girl who grew up on the pogues, an honor to finally see you all live.

Man, definately one of the best [Pogues] shows I've been to. The 7 or 8 glasses of whiskey may have contributed to the overall experience, but it is so much fun partying with the Boys from County Hell. I was fortunate to have a dear friend from Ireland in tow that night. Fortunate mostly because he was tall enough to be able to catch that tin that was tossed into the crowd- the tin that is still proudly displayed in my kitchen in Georgetown much to the dismay of my girlfriend. I dont recall Noel hitting anyone with it after taking receipt, but then again it was late and the 8th whiskey was securely entrenched. Flying up to NYC Thursday morning to rendezvous with some friends to see the show at Terminal 5 that night. Spending the day with friends being led around by a private marching band comprised of a tuba, banjo and clarinet (penny whistel and/or accordian would be greatly welcomed). Will be at Molly's tavern by noon. Looking forward to the show. May bring the tin to see if i can get it signed.
