An average gig-goer's view: ;)

"The Pogues were pretty fun as well. I admittedly don't know any Pogues stuff, but I know lead dude is a raging alcoholic, or used to be or something. He was pretty hammered tonight, which was entertaining to say the least.

I like watching them a lot, a lot of cool old dudes in that band. My favorite was either the old dude with the kilt or the picolo dude that just screamed really loudly from time to time. Left a bit early because I wasn't feeling 100% and I hate the Congress a whole bunch.

Fight broke out in front of us, that was a definite highlight."

But I'm not going to NYC and I've never spoken to you. :?

But your going to Boston?

Clash Cadillac wrote:I must say Shane was in great form, really a great show last night. Blood curdling banshee howls. Philip in a kilt  and boots (brand Philip?) . Spider had a gash on his head from a nasty spill earlier in the day so he had to bang others heads with his tray during Fiesta. William Elliot Whitmore was in attendance along with Tony, Becca and Aaron from The Tossers. Also met Mike M from this fora. I think it was Spider who said "where's what's his name" while waiting for Shane to take the stage after Straight to Hell. I could actually make out 20% or so of what Shane was saying tonight. That percentage is up drastically from previous shows. If this was my last live Pogues show it lived up to everything I could have hoped for. Thanks a million...

I enjoyed your set list and review. Thank you :D

Ah...home again, home again.

Clash pretty much covered everything, but I'll reiterate what a great show it was and how surprisingly good Shane sounded. (Of course, I guess "good" is a relative term...I took my brother with me to the show, him having never really heard the band before. At one point between songs, I asked him what he thought. His response? "I really like the music, but I can't understand a damn thing the lead singer is saying..." :) ) I sincerely hope that his form holds up for the rest of the tour, so that the rest of you get as good a show as we did. Shane did skip a few verses of "Matilda", which was disappointing but forgivable. I loved Spider's "Now where's what's his name" comment at the start of the show...not sure how many people caught it, but it was a good laugh for those that did.

Probably the biggest thrill of the night came from getting to watch the show from the "Band VIP" balcony, which put us relatively close to the stage but well above the gyrating masses on the main floor. As much fun as the mosh pit appeared to be, I'm too old and fat for that action anymore...so a calmer vantage point was definitely a good thing. Not to mention that it made quite the impression on the folks went with me, all of whom were seeing the band for the first time. Thanks Philip!

This was only my second time seeing the boys live, but if it has to be the last, I can be happy with it. I think they were as close to being in top form as anyone could ask for, and it was clear they weren't holding anything back. There seemed to be quite a bit of joking about onstage between (and occasionally during) songs, and it was great to see the guys clearly enjoying themselves.

Alright, that's it for my incoherent ramblings...time for some sleep, which I've desperately missed the last two nights!

Oh, and one last thing....Clash, it was great to meet you and your wife!! Hope she had a fantastic birthday!!

I have seen many shows over the years. This was a great show. Shane sounded better than he did 15 yrs ago and the band was in great form. Full house in Chicago was also fun.
The setlist was PERFECT!

I had an amazing first/last Pogues show. Everyone played and sang really well, seemed to be enjoying themselves as much as the audience. It was tough to face the end of the gig. That performance of Fiesta is one of my most bittersweet memories.

Didn't care too much for Titus Andronicus, but they weren't bad and didn't come close to putting a damper on the night.

I loitered outside the Congress with a few other fans after the show. I missed Shane by a few seconds but was lucky enough to have James and Jem to sign a promo poster. They were really nice, understandably a little rushed, but chatted with us while they signed everything.

I supposed I am jut holding out hop that this really isn't the last we'll be seeing of Shane & everyone. I've seen you guys almost every time you've come here, and March 3 really was one of the best shows of them all. I will dearly miss you all if this really is the last we'll see of you on this side of the pond.
