Not this time - I'm in BC, watching the youtube videos and counting the days until NYC!

Aha ! Another Canadian then !

Hello,

That would be Miss Logan Hunter who gave up her toque to Shane. We were over from Canada for some Christmas shopping and had our girls Logan and her younger sister Brooke to their first concert. While my wife and I took in both shows we were glad that the kids were able to see the band play on Wed night. It was a great performance!

While it would be inappropriate to announce what hotel we were staying in we were glad to have met the band members that we did including our unexpected late night social with Shane. Of course the kids were tucked away in bed at this point in time with grandma and didn't get to meet with Shane.
The following day my daughter Logan wanted to meet Shane, so I took her over to his table at which point she was happy to offer him her "Canadian" winter toque - to go along with the Canadian like weather in Ireland. Shane gracefully accepted the hat from her. This was a fun moment for Logan.

Yes, in fact other Canadians in Dublin.

Natalie Byrne kindly shared her nice photos from the "infamous" 9th December gig, and you can enjoy them HERE in the Medusa gallery.
Thanks, Natalie! :)

Does anyone else think it was lucky that Spider excelled in his deputising for the Fairytale waltz with Ella, or things might have got even messier.

Absolutely! I was looking back at my video and he made a dash to Ella like a pure gentleman to save her from a certain crumpled mess on the floor if Shane had managed to get there first. You should see Shane's face when he realises Spider has beaten him to it

Nice photos, indeed. I particularly like the look on James' face watching Shane propped up by Mr Cashman... 8)

That's Jos Grain, not Joey Cashman.

 color me embarrassed. I even took a look through the fora photos of Joey to make sure. I was so sure it was him....

Jos, is of course, the phenomenally good-looking and preternaturally talented instrument tech and roadie who makes the whole show possible. My apologies for confusing him with the equally talented, but not nearly as attractive, Mr Cashman.

Jos is also responsible for the infamous Iggy Pop and The Stooges concert rider, which can be found here:

Monitor Requirements... For the sidefills, can we have two great big huge enormous things please, of a type that might be venerated as gods by the inhabitants of Easter Island, capable of reaching volumes that would make Beelzebub soil his underpants, and driven by amplifiers that could provide the power for a Monster Truck Rally. With dinosaur drivers.

Mr. Chevron is it possible that Jos Grain has written a concert rider for the Pogues?

Alas no. He just makes sure we are amply supplied with toys; and stages ad hoc exhibitions of his artwork installations in the Catering room.

He has been known to turn people away from the backstage area of David Bowie shows if they are unable to pronounce the star's name correctly.

How does one manage to mispronounce "David"? That's crazy.

Ahh, so that's what happened to Shane!!

Yes it was our fault

No seriously, Shane was already very very drunk when we arrived and often a sleep. He had probably been up all night since gig the day before. Obviously great to finally meet Shane but it could have been at a better time. Laughed like hell to what he answered Maureen when she thought the coffemachine at the bar was Shane laughing.

-What fucking coffemachine? This is an Irish bar!

Haha ! Shane the coffee machine ! Sounded so much like him !

He'd had quite a few hours sleep the night before - he slept on his bed with Noel Kenny. The next day they both woke up at exactly the same time and looked into each others eyes and went "Arrrggghhh" with shock !
