I stand by my comment, shane is a living legend, people will be listening to his songs long after we are all gone, just like there are Behan's bars now there will be macgowan's bars some day, its obviously not good when he gives a shit performance because he is wrecked and ive seen him bad more with the Popes than the Pogues and been pissed off about it but its a fact i know what i'm letting myself in for every time , its worth the risk for me, i've got nothing but respect for the man
One Shane MacGowan !

I can't imagine anyone being "embarassed" by bring friends to see Shane. Who were these "friends" that had no idea what to expect from a Pogues show??? In Dublin??? Where have you been for the last 30 yrs? :?

So Shane fucked up a show. Jesus Christ, that's not the first time and it might not be the last time. Shane is Shane, I really thought everybody here knew him better. To those who complain, why the hell don't you go and see a Take That show? I feel nothing but respect and love for the man. He stands for what he is, end of story. As for the rest of the band, I cannot say I feel sorry for them. They know him even better so they should always be aware of the fact that anything can happen. Well, I am pretty sure they are.

It seems only new posters are suprized by this sudden discovery. I'm fairly certain the band is more aware of the possible antics then anyone outside the band can imagine.

Stellar performance by all. What can I say about Mr Stacy? - it's not easy to put all (most?)of those verses in order on the best of nights. He stepped up and fucking delivered.
Jem Finer is definitely the anchor on this tune - rock solid.

Keep it in the setlist just the way it is, gentlemen.

Ahh, so that's what happened to Shane!!

Well, I guess I would be disappointed if the only time I ever saw the Pogues Shane was a mess, but also I would be thrilled to see them regardless and I accept Shane whatever. As for the rest of the band, it's not like they don't know the probability of it happening so I imagine they would be prepared for the worst.

Love what I've seen of the night before.

seen the pogues 5 times and this was the first one that wasn't absolutely brilliant. nowhere near as bad as paople make out though as i remember it... i was probably a close second to shane in terms of drunkenness though. seems i chose the right gig to be blackout drunk for. still had a great time, great atmosphere up the front. so what's the latest on if this is in fact the farewell tour? would love to see them again even if they take a couple of years off and then come for another reunion. and what's the craic with this new band shane's forming??? or is that a malicious rumour?

Explains alot for sure :D Sorry for not seeing more of you guys, I wagely remember I met Mats at the venue? ? Three nights in Dublin worth spending money on, including the gigs. A Pogues gig will always be a Pogues gig for me; I've had one or two not so good ones during the reunion time but I buy the whole package and I'm glad Shane is part of it. Good luck to the band and f a n s for the rest of the tour. Hope it won't be a last farewell.
