GREAT SHOWIN HAMBURG :D

Thanx for coming to Hamburg, you were fantastic!!! Shane a little bit late at some songs but that's business as usual, Phils 'Thousands are sailing" was cracking as was the whole show! Only a little bit of rain at the end and the beginning. And I really love that venue, never been there before.

Hope to see some photos of the gig here in the near future, so if anyone has got a link or took photos, PLEASE SHOW THEM!

here a report of a German newspaper about the concert in hamburg. Unfortunately, the pogues come off as just too bad.

I wonder why they closed the "comment to the article" section so quickly. Too many people disagreed??

Hey, let's face it, for the unbiased spectator, who doesn't not have a weak spot for Pogues in general nor for Shane in particular, I think there is a point (will I be banned from the forum now, and kicked off the raft??). I, as much as others here, still fall for what's left of Shane's charisma, but then: what can you expect from an unbiased observer. I hardly understood anything he said (and what I understand I wasn't too pleased with), his singing we all probably understand only because we already know the songs inside out anyways. and one hardly call his physical appearance and abilities heartening, can one? (on this point, respect to Bruce Springsteen and others who are still going strong). Besides, there never is anything unexpected on the setlist, let alone a brand new song, because the singer will not show up to rehearse anyway (Philip's words, not mine). In earnest: who, apart from us true believers, would not remark what was remarked here?
Yet what I disliked about the review was that no reference was made to the band, I wasn't in Hamburg and have to rely on what I heard in Münster and Amsterdam, but at least the reviewer could have remarked that there was some tight band up on stage, and that they and their crew did a good job in amping them hard-too-amp instruments. Sure James threw in some fab accordion playing every now and then (won't comment on other instruments for lack of knowledge).
Hoping to still be tolerated here.

If I'll ever meet this little fuck Stefan Krulle in real life, I'm gonna beat his teeth out of him...

no, seriously, what a prick for writing such negative shite about the Pogues and especially about Shane. Well, it's the "Welt", so no wonder that it's complete crap. I have reasons for not reading commercial lie-telling papers like this one.

Makes me kind of angry and sad, but anyway....other papers wrote very positive reviews about Münster, Berlin or Hamburg. So Fuck it!

I think you got to the point there...

We love The Pogues - and we love them because they influenced us, touched us, made us dance or make music...

Someone who is not that emotional may see it slightly different...

So..let's enjoy the fact that we had another chance to see them ! The band was great (in Münster where I saw them) and Shane arrived on stage sometime in the third song they played or so..and we all had a ball !!!

Cheers !
