now that you've (hopefully) had a few days to rest in your own home and live by your own schedule, do you have any stand out moments from the tour? any lasting impressions about the tour/the band/etc. in general?

It was great to get to places we hadn't been before or for a very long time and gratifying to find some of our warmest welcomes and best shows were in those places.

I heard Denver was great and I know Austin was. A long time ago on another thread I commented that both Denver and Minneapolis would show strong support for a Pogues gig and Denver proved me correct with a sold out show. I'm now hoping Minneapolis makes the list in the near future.

Sorry that the crowd in KC wasn't the most enthusiastic...it wasn't for a lack of some of us trying, I assure you!

I must also apologize for the KC crowd. We love you guys, but I guess midwesterners are just a little more laid back than those crazies on the coast.

I beg to differ. The craziest mosh pit I ever experienced was in Minneapolis at the 1st Avenue for a Rancid show.

I have also seen some crazy mosh pits. I think there are three factors that lead to the lackluster crowd at the KC show:

1. Kansas/Missouri crowds do not get active whatsoever after they leave their teen years.
2. Kansas/Missouri teens are extremely price resistant.
3. There simply aren't radio formats around here that play The Pogues.

This leads to a situation where there aren't enough youngsters to tear up the floor, and the older concert goers won't pick up the slack. It was still an awesome show, but I think the crowd could have used a good swift kick in the trousers.

We used to play a lot of Pogues on KNON in Dallas (community radio) back in the day . . . now all they seem to play is blues and gospel and hip-hop, but in the mid-80s there was quite a good bit of great programming there. And there was even a weekly show of all kinds of celtic music (in addition to the punk and new wave).

In the NYC area the Pogues are not played as part of a regular format. College radio still plays the Pogues especially around St Patty's Day. My son's attend two different Universities. One is a communications major that has his own radio show on Thursdays 8-10pm. He usually dedicates a Pogues song to Dad.

Hi Phil, hope the tour is going well thus far. This is a little off topice I know but is there any chance of a new Pogues album in the future ? Surely to God Shane has enough material stockpiled even if he can't remember most of it ? A few choice covers and there you have it, a perfect Pogues album. No reivention, no experimenting, just the man himself and a brilliant band behind him. With all this downloading, i-pods and computer crap, I think the time is right for a real, genuine band like the Pogues to shine again. Cheers.

Personally, at this point, I'm just hoping for a single, rather than a full album. The Pixies are kind of in the same mode as The Pogues right now; they've been reunited and touring for a while, but seem to have no strong plans for an album. However, they did manage to record a new single a few years back that they just put up as an iTunes exclusive download. That seems like a pretty good way to get back into recording to me. It's a lot less pressure and gives just about the ultimate chance for a band to put their best foot forward since they only have to come up with one really solid song. If it goes well, they can always do more later, and if it doesn't go well, at least they don't have the pressure of selling and promoting an album hanging over their heads. Plus, it would give them one new song to integrate on tour.

Oh well... one can always hope.
