Well I've never been to Blackpool, but I kinda like the music.....they say the ladies are insane there....

I never been to 'Nawlens' neither. Something not quite right about that place.
What kind of fuckery is this?

I trot off to Mexico for a few weeks and all goes to Hell! I CAN envision The Pogues in Oaxaca for Dia de los Muertos however... Territa and I can be his minders because our Spanish is so good. ¡seríamos defensores diligentes!

Great plan, Kathleen. They might add a few suitable songs, Down in the Ground..., perhaps even throw in Mexican Funeral in Paris.

As long as you minders promise to keep them away from speedboats ;(

Supposedly (because I don't know him) from the famous Spiro of Seattle who helped Shane to the NOLA show, posted on the FB page........

"This is Spiro. Finally got online and have read all the kind words and questions, just wanna thank the Pogues and the Poguedom for being so great. For everyone who missed the show shame on you I had the time of my life, and so did everyone else for the most part."
"To everyone who aprreciates and loves the band as much as i do and who haven't had the pleasure of meeting them, they're just as big in hearts and spirits as you would hope and true gentlemen and I love them that much more for being real motherfuckers."

Shane’s got a new helper? Or is it just somebody from the fest crew or even the famous Spiro? :)

The gentleman in question is the redoubtable Ross Duncan, who has performed the not insignificant miracle of tour managing almost every Pogues tour since 2001. He is assisting Mr MacGowan in this picture because Mr Cashman had gotten himself even more lost in New Orleans than Mr MacGowan had and, well, Spiro cannot be expected to locate all our Missing Persons.

It was Mr Duncan who, earlier in the day, having spent the previous night and morning trawling through every emergency room and police precinct in the NOLA area, correctly predicted that the Prodigal Singer would most likely be found by a Pogues fan who would then, Pogues fans being on the smart side, promptly march Mr MacGowan to his appointed place of work with just seconds to spare. 23 years in Showbiz can see such powers of prediction accumulate to a man.

Maybe after a couple more years he will resort to obtaining a set of reliable tracking devices and expertly hiding them in the Prodigal Singer's shoes. ;)

Thanks for clarifying the mystery!

Mr MacGowan is not a man to relinquish the quest for someone else's shades just because his first attempt ended in ignominy. For all I know, they're Spiro's.

The mystery deepens because in the famous photos of Mr MacGowan and Mr Stacy tussling, neither is wearing shades. Mr Stacy because his have just been stolen, Mr MacGowan because, well, he doesn't seem to have any others at that point. So there appears to be only one pair between them at that stage, then there are two.

The plot thickens...

......from which we must surely deduce that Mr MacGowan lost his in the French Quarter and that he is sporting third party shades in the photo.

They will surely in that case turn up on ebay.

Although of course the fact that one already has a pair is not absolutely a reason for not attempting to acquire someone else's. It just goes like that sometimes.
