Great show and the highlight to a great weekend. The venue was beautiful but the acoustics don't seem to generate a lot of crowd noise (despite all our singin and yellin) but I didn't have any trouble hearing the band. My youngest son was pleased that he got to hear his two favorites (Streams... and Young Ned), and I was wowed by Andrew's Star....

So Mike and Jenny from St. Louis, I hope you don't mind if I self invite myself to look you up sometime when I'm visiting the oldest, I had a blast up in Weston on Friday and Sunday was even better.

Mark, from KC, I made good on my obligation to buy the first round at Rag. Road pre-show and thanks for reciprocatin, it was nice to meet you guys.

Adam and Clash, we looked for you guys but without advance tee shirt descriptions our efforts fell short.

To the guys from Winnipeg, after the show was great - sorry about Springsteen canceling the show.

For those that didn't stop in Rag. Road after the show, surprisingly, you missed a great time. First it was reverse happy hour so my post show tab was $5.00 versus my $65.00 pre-show tab. Guinness was $2.00 and everyone that asked (until it ran out) received a free bread pudding (large) by showing your ticket stub. The bar had 3 people when my son and I arrived and in 1/2 hour there was 60+. They turned up the music extra loud and the place was pretty pub like for about an hour. They played the Wild Rover about 5 times, women were step dancin and I think I may have broke my right thumb from the exuberant audience participation parts in that little ditty. So for a brief bit, Rag. Road was neither touristy or over-priced. Thanks to all that made it a great weekend, especially the Pogues for puttin on a fine show. If any of you ever make it back to KC, keep my cell phone number (earlier posts - meet up) and we'll find some table pounding live music to go with a couple of pints.

Jim, thanks again for the great recommendation of O'Malley's on Friday night, and I'm sorry we didn't make it back to Raglan Road after the show, as it sounds like we missed quite a good time. Unfortunately, an "on the road" time of 8am Monday made more beer and a later bedtime seem like a questionable choice. On the plus side, we did (almost literally) run into Mr. Chevron as he was dashing out the stage door and into a waiting van, and he was kind enough to pause a moment to shake hands and say hello!

I'm still buzzing after the show...and was laughing today as I put in my "Rest of the Best" disc only to discover how many of those tracks had been played on Sunday!

Please feel free (any of you) to drop me a line if you find yourself in St. Louis. I've got a great little local Irish pub, and I'll buy your first Guinness!

Thanks for visiting America, period. It was well worth the 1,000-mile trip from Washington, DC, and the three months of waiting.

The venue was great, the city couldn't have more nice people, and the band gets better all the time. Now, if we can get Spider a better beer tray for "Fiesta" and Shane learns "Transmetropolitan," it'll be about perfect.

It took years and the "Just Look 'Em In the Eye" boxed set, but when I hear "Thousands" in my head, it's Philip singing.

See you on St. Patrick's Day.

Just out of curiosity for those who go to Pogues concerts around the country (or globe): How did the crowd in KC compare? From our angle, it looked a bit tamer than we expected, and my wife thought she heard Spider say something to the effect of "Try to contain your enthusiasm." Granted, the ticket prices were higher than averaerage, which probably led to fewer youngsters attending who would have probably been the ones doing the majority of moshing and pogoing. Regardless, it was a great show, but it makes me tempted to conveniently time a vacation when they are in Boston, Chicago or another larger city.

I've now seen 12 shows starting in 2006 and KC was the tamest crowd yet excluding the Boston shows at the Orpheum which were all seated.

Bummer. Hopefully if/when they return, KC will greet them with a bit more enthusiasm. My friend and I tried to go down to the floor to add some energy, but I felt like a jerk trying to get to the front where people were actually moving around. Instead of being a sea of bodies, people had definite space staked out so it felt like cutting in line to try to get closer.

I can't get any sound either. I did find a few songs from the KC show a day or two ago that had sound and a much higher framerate. I'll link if I can find them again.
