SF - Regency Center - October 14th, 2009

Another brilliant performance last night. My memory of the Warfield show is still a little hazy, so I layed off the sauce last night. Best performance I've seen from the boys of the 12 shows I've made it to over the last 4 years. Shane was on -- I was at the Seattle show and he was definitely not on there -- and more playful than I've seen him at previous shows. At one point I thought he was going to throw Spider off the stage after a prolonged arm-locked spin with him.

A good time had by all. Now I just need to figure out if I'm going to make it to Dublin for a show or two for my birthday.

Oh ok. I also noticed, I haven't seen too much in terms of photography from the shows so far. Nothing from the wire agencies yet, not really any on flickr either. It's weird.

I saw plenty of people with cameras there last night along with everyone getting in a shot or two on their phone.

I was there last night and had a great time. Shane seemed spot on and the venue was solid as well. Definitely better than the show I saw in Boston lat year, and on par with the 2007 (I think) show at the Filmore I went to, which was one of the best concerts I've ever attended.

The band also seemed very appreciative of the crowd last night as well which I can't argue with.

Have to agree with layble - unbelievably good show last night. I was at the Warfied the night before too and didn't think that could be topped - but gotta say I think the Regency show was probably another notch up. If I had to put my finger on it - it just seemed like the band were having a really good time - maybe savoring the awesome show at Warfield - they knew they were going to kick ass the second night. Who knows - not me. Also the huge dancing floor area at the Regency means the crowd is on their feet. Crowd was great both nights - so great to see lot of youngsters out there - (it's all relative) - a whole new generation of fans.
Pretty sure it was same set list - honestly couldn't pick a favorite - maybe Rainy Night in Soho - emotional. Lullaby too. Shane was great - voice, timing, dancing on stage with Spider - great ! At the end it almost seemed like he didn't want to leave the stage. Whole band was on top form. Spider must have a headache - that looked a heavier duty tray he used for his 'head-nutting' syncopation. He said it was his wedding anniversary maybe there's a connection
So if any doubts after a couple of early show reviews ........ya know it's gonna be fun, and it might just be awesome.

Cracking show last night. I've said for years that the quality of the Pogues musicianship tends to be underrated but they are one of the tightest bands in any genre to hear live notably on Repeal of... and Tuesday Morning. I thought Sickbed was the highlight especially with James soaring across the front of the stage.
Great vibe, great venue, great band.
Keep coming back.

The morning after the morning after. Whew. Seven of us from Sacramento in three different vehicles at three different times. Trials and tribulations for some getting there and getting out - but WHAT A SHOW! This was the third time (first two at the Fillmore in '06 and /07) for me and a coupla others. There was a wee bit of trepidation after reading a few early reviews, but whatever may or may not have happened in the Pacific Northwest, this show was incredible! Won't add much to what's already been posted - the entire set was great, the highlights were amazing (Spider seemed in rare form throughout, Mr. Fearnley was a maniac, Thousands are Sailing was something rare and beautiful, etc), and any concerns regarding Mr. MacGowan were revealed to be kerfuffle - he was a jaw-droppin' wonder to behold. A couple of us were on the floor in front of the stage, and the rest of us were in the balcony near the stage, close enough to get a fairly good look at the band's faces, and it seemed like everybody up there was just plain joyful - and even if you weren't close enough to see it, that joy just radiated through the auditorium. Thank you Pogues for a great night - blasts of energy, some tears, some "dancing", and a whole lot more. You've got three new "fans" and all of us are already anxious to get tickets for your next West Coast trek. Many cheers!

I will just add my two cents to what has already been said about this show. This was my third show seeing the Pogues and it was by far the best show I have seen. I much like others on this board was nervous hearing the less than stellar reviews coming out of the Pacific Northwest. I was surprised to see a lot more young people than the last couple of times I saw them at the Fillmore. I am 23 and everytime I have seen the Pogues, I felt like one of the youngest people in the room. The show kicked off with Streams of Whiskey and the crowd immediately erupted with dancing and singing. I was immediately covered in beer and whiskey and couldn't have been happier. The band sounded great and, as everyone else said, incredibly happy to be playing. Shane was in good form and seemed to remember almost every lyric. There was one point when he forgot a line and everybody just laughed it off and cheered him on. A highlight of the set for me was Thousands are Sailing. I have always loved that song and it was great to see Phillip up there playing with the band again. I drunkenly yelled about how much I loved Phillip and got some strange looks. The look on Spider's face when that drink tray came out was pretty hilarious, he and Shane dancing was priceless as well. The crowd was lots of fun. I danced like a motherfukker and sang along to every lyric, throwing my arms around complete strangers and enjoying the wonder that is The Pogues live in concert. There is no high quite like a Pogues show, I can't wait till they come back around. Thank you boys for the memories...and lack of memories

p.s. Did anyone get a picture of Shane in the "UNREPENTANT FENIAN BASTARD" shirt. I couldn't help but cheer when he came out in that shirt. I need a picture of it.
