Tonight 9.15pm
You might want to keep in mind, though, that last night there were two opening acts, and tonight there's just one.
Which is why we went on at 10.15 last night.

Awesome show!! Guys really rocked and sounded great. Almost as hard as Sleazy Jesus! :) Great to meet DzM. I'm the mildly inebriated guy who tried to get his wife hammered with a vodka/cran. Hope you make it back on all four tires.

Nice DevotchKa photos DZM! Did they play "We're Leaving" and "Til the end of Time," 2 of my favorites?

ALSO ---- my work blocks your website all the time for some reason. I have no idea why though.

Thanks HeatMiser! Unfortunately I don't know their catalog at all and really have no idea what they played. I liked what I heard well enough to buy their disc out at the merch stand though.

Odd. Please email me if you're interested in helping me troubleshoot the problem.

Thanks gents. Glad to share them, and glad you enjoy them.

So I've never been good at gig reviews. I just don't have the knack for it. I have to say, though, that I thought the Tuesday show was really good. The band (all of it) was on, the openers (both of them, but especially Sean & Zander) were fantastic, the audience was really into the show and having a fantastic time. Tuesday was really what I look for in a Pogues show. I have no complaints about it at all. I DID, however, notice that Star of the County Down and Love You Til The End both dropped from the set since I last saw the band (March '08). I'm surprised at how much I missed them both, but particularly Star. I've always enjoyed the fire-drill of instrument swapping, the drum lead-in sounding like some kind of mix of "Indian drum" and marching music, and Andrew belting out the vocals.

Midway through the show it also occurred to me that it was just over 17 years ago that I saw the Pogues for the first time. That was on Oct 6, 1992. Shane and the Pogues had just gone their separate ways, Joe was filling in, I was 21, and the Lovely Mrs. DzM and I were heading out to one of our first shows with each other. We heard Joe Strummer & the Pogues blow out the rafters at the Warfield 17 years ago. I got to hear London Calling, Straight to Hell, Johnny Come Lately, Hell's Ditch (I think), and more. It was mind-blowing. That experience fed this experience and the two complemented each other really damn well.

Hell ... I'm even remembering when I first learned of the show. I was driving somewhere in San Jose, California, and an ad came on the radio. Clips from various songs were played, the voice-over announced the venue and dates (still a month or two off), etc. I was over the moon. "The fucking POGUES! On the fucking RADIO! AND doing a show in San Francisco!" I immediately abandoned whatever chore I was on and rushed to meet The Lovely Future Mrs. DzM. "The fucking POGUES! In October! In San Francisco! Holy fuck!" I was so excited about this thing that even now, years later, I remember the whole experience vividly.

So thank you Pogues for a great show on Tuesday, and for a great show 17 years (and one week) ago. It astounds me when I think of how much of my life your music has been a part of. Hell yeah. The fucking POGUES.
